Default Some of them are getting MPSC2s

Just got an update that mine is at the port in Emden awaiting a shipping vessel. The tracking system shows my vin and Michelins for tires.

Not that the contis are bad as I haven't used them, but I do like the Cup2s I have used so I'm happy.

The others are Dunlops, not Contis, but great news!

Congrats. I wonder how they choose what tires to put on what car? My GT3 came with the Dunlops.

When is your car scheduled to arrive? I'd love to see it. Mine is scheduled to arrive at the end of Aug/beginning of Sept.

Cheers,
Rob

I checked on mine today (Canadian car currently in the port of Halifax) and it has Michelins according to the build sheet

I'm hoping it gets here late July. I'll he out at COTA with Chin in August if you would like to see it. How do you like the Dunlops? I haven't tried them, only the Cup2s.

The dunlops have been good on the street so far. Only had a couple sessions on track with them and the fronts are wearing the center rib pretty fast. Need to figure out if that's pressure (starting pretty low), a different center compound, or I'm asking too much of the front end.

My Spyder has MPCS2's and the jury is still out on them, although them seems to be wearing better than the Dunlops.

I'll be at Chin as well and have a couple spots open in my garage if you want to join?

Out of curiosity, what hot pressures are you targeting? And approximately what cold pressures do you need in order to hit those numbers? Typically if the center is wearing faster it means that pressures are too high due to how tire shape changes with pressure.

I won't get mine until early next year, so I'm hoping by then early owners will have come to a consensus on optimum track tire pressure. Judging by the GT3 threads, it seems cold pressures in the 29-31 range may be appropriate, which is lower than I'm used to, but I guess my M3 is several hundred pounds heavier.

Yes Sir, you are correct about high pressure. It's not the entire center rib wearing, but a bevel in only the center rib. One other tire I've seen do that is the Bridgestone RE71R.

With the dunlops I'm having to start in the mid-twenties to hit mid-thirties. My thought maybe that I'm going to hard to early and the tire is deforming with the low pressure. My first session I started around 28psi and ended up close to 40psi at the end of the session so I went down in pressure for the second session.

Interesting, thanks! I'm surprised that you had to drop even below 28 psi. Reading the GT4 manual, it seems that the Circuits mode for TPMS prevents you from storing a baseline pressure lower than 29 PSI, so I figured that that would be the lowest owners would likely need in order to achieve proper hot pressures. Evidently not, which is particularly surprising because apparently 27 PSI triggers a low pressure warning even in Circuits mode, which already accepts lower pressures than regular mode. Too bad, because Circuits mode seemed like a cool way to avoid false TPMS alerts out on track, but if even that doesn't have low enough thresholds for stored pressure values and alerts, it loses its utility.

Fwiw, proper hot pressure on Cup tires, which I know you're not running, is 34-36 PSI according to Michelin and apparently just 29-32 PSI (!!!) according to some GT3 owners.

Are you taking the GT3 or Spyder for Chin? Thanks for the garage offer, I should have one with another buddy of mine.

That wear in the middle of the Dunlops is interesting, I wonder if that is a tire mold seam that is separating?

Are those numbers based on 991 GT3 experience? I ask because I'm wondering if the higher rear pressure reflects the additional weight on the rear axle that the GT3 has and that the GT4 doesn't.

Michelin recommendation. Start there and adjust. 997 GT3/RS works well with those numbers.
