These contests are silly. I've never seen a dealer "step up their game" in order to win such a contest. They just sell sell sell, because that's how they make money, and that's what they exist for. In the end, the same dealers continuously win these "contests" because they were already going to meet the requirements anyway (even if they did nothing differently).
No wonder I haven't heard from the dealer I have first dibs at. Eleven cars in April for this small dealer is a 'bridge too far'. Bummer.

Dealer told me that Porsche had a 'contest' for April. Sell 11 cars - get a GT4 allocation. So, as I understand the three basis used for GT4 allocations so far have been: VIP, ratio based on the number of Caymans sold and now based on the number of cars (assume new?) sold during a specific time period.

I'm curious as to how other manufacturers handle similar allocation proceeses.

That was his dealer's goal, yours may have a different goal. Not all will have the same goal; I can see some sell that many in a week while others take all month.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Makes sense these 'contests' would be tailored to each dealer. Probably still means though if I don't hear from my SA they didn't meet their goal.

I've received second hand confirmation from a friend that a dealership in NorCal (not one that mooty and I would ever do business with ever again) has received a second batch of GT4 allocations on Friday, and that their order is now confirmed.

This correlates with some of the reports above, in this thread.
Sonnen told me Saturday that they had nothing new to share, that no new allocations had been given to them yet.

Whats stupid is that if they gave your dealership 11 GT4's they would be able to sell them in a heartbeat.

Hey Porsche. This is garbage.

Ya, good point. Don't know if it was one allocation per 11 cars sold or if there were different targets for different dealers, etc.

I just asked the dealer that I'm on the list at about rumors of incoming allocations. This is the response I got:

"Any additional GT4 at this point is a pool car, and distributed at the discretion of the regional reps.

We’ve not received any further cars at this point."

Is your dealer premier? That may also come into play as a perk for them.

Hey Porsche. This is garbage.
Instead they give them Cayman/CaymanS/GTS and Spyder allocations. Sense it does not make.

This cant be right. That would mean that less than 200 cars are planned for delivery in the US via direct allocation to dealerships. Thats less than the 918. And if the PCNA comment that "more" are coming is to be believed (which I think we should believe) then its all in the hands of the regional reps despite the dealerships knowing exactly who they can sell to right now? Rubbish.

Woah woah woah.

Are we to interpret this to mean that the order we are in at our dealer's lists now no longer matters?!? So the fact that I knew about this car before my dealer did and asked to be placed on a hypothetical list to ensure myself a spot, now means nothing as someone with a grip of money that decides on a whim he wants this car will now leapfrog me??

There are not enough emoticons to express myself

No, that's not what that means. That means which dealers get these extra allocs is at the discretion of PCNA's Regional Manager / Director.

Then once the dealer has an alloc, they distribute it to folks based on their wait list, or however they choose to do it.

Critical phrase - "at this point".

This ^^.

For example, no allocations for January 2016 build starts have been given out yet. If I'm not mistaken, that applies across the board, for all models.

Give PAG some time to figure out build slots. And then for PAG to allocate to PCNA. And then for PCNA to allocate to Regional Managers / Directors. And then for those Regional Managers to allocate to individual Dealerships.

Sadly, while I'd love for this to be quicker and more transparent, it's not. The only way I'm going to get what I want is if I start up a boutique supercar manufacturer (e.g., Pagani, Koenigsegg), succeed with my hypercar model, and then branch out into supercars, and high performance cars. This still means I won't get what I want with Porsche, though.
