What other German automakers are charging for PTS....
****
From another thread but which might be of interest to some here.
**
Porsche's competition is doing re: PTS. Audi, for example,
has currently one of the lowest PTS costs in the business:
And notice that they will respond to your true Paint to Sample
color request within one week of receiving it. What? That is
simply outrageous!
And just a few years ago, any paint that had been offered
by Audi could be ordered for only $2500. That was the PTS
deal of the 21st Century!
So the colors 'Solar Orange', 'Porsche 2D8 Green', 'Nardo Gray',
'Suzuka Grey' could have been ordered on any Audi for just
$2500! That price now was increased to $3,900 & it doesn't
matter if its a Audi color or anything else!
I am about to receive a custom ordered 2016 'Nardo Gray' RS7.
Fortunately for me, 'Nardo Gray' (a solid/uni color) is a no cost
option - but only on the RS7. So I couldn't pass up the opportunity
to get that stunning color for....free. So I am very grateful for that!

'Club Blau' as future PTS option...
From another conversation in the 991 gt3 forum which might
be of interest to those following this 'Custom Ordering' reference
guide.
***************
Imaginary...but alluding to a potential PTS color. Last year for the
PTS metallic choice they started using a representation that some
thought resembled 'Arena Red Metallic'. At times, PAG has used
other representations to designate a PTS color, such as what was
interpreted as 'Miami Blue' on the RS configurator for PTS solid/uni:
****
In fact, Daniel, there is not 'hard & fast' rule as to when PAG decides
to remove the 'exclusivity' of a previously designated color. It took
far less than five years for 'Brewster Green', an original exclusive
color for the Club Coupe edition in MY2012, to be available to anyone
via PTS.

Re: 'Club Blau'
No, 'Club Blau' is not on the Nov 17th 2015 approved list. I had a
very specific conversation on when might 'Club Blau' become available
to others via PTS with a high-ranking employee of 'Porsche Exclusive'
Germany that made the presentation at Rennsport V on how the PCA
60th Anniversary 'GTS Club Coupe' was conceived & executed at PAG.
He told me that for MY2016, the color was 'safe' as an exclusive.
But he could, or would not, commit as to how long the color would
be held 'exclusive' to the 60th PCA Anniversary limited edition. He
did say that PCA was lobbying hard PAG to make sure that this color
remained unique to their 60th anniversary edition. But as you have
heard me say a number of times, PTS is not controlled by 'Porsche
Exclusive' at PAG. Hopefully, if they let me interview these officials
later this year, I will try to get an answer to that question.

Hey Eduardo,
Do you know if the red color (pic above) that shows up
in configurator when you select the 2nd PTS box is just
an imaginary placeholder color or does it represent a
real PTS choice? If latter, do you know which one (of
course, only if you are at a liberty to reveal)?
TIA

I have yet to see Club Blau in person, but I am awaiting approval on a similar (non-Porsche) color that might give people a nice alternative. My goal was never to match Club Blau with my submission, but it is incidentally close at first glance. Assuming my request shows up on the approved list, it would be worth doing a spray card to compare the two.
Forgive my ignorance with respect to Club Blau, but does it have any pearl or metallic qualities?

No, 'Club Blau' is a solid/uni color that does not have a 'pearl' effect
nor any metallic flakes in the mix.
'Club Blau' is two shades away from a vintage/historic 911 color
from the early 1970's. That color was 'Acid Blue', also known
as 'Bahama Blue', Porsche color code 354.

'Ruby Star' / 'Sternrubin', color code 82N...
From another thread but I thought it might be of interest to some here.
*******************
I think you are right about the far left sample as being 'Rubystone'!
Or the color PAG today calls 'Ruby Star' / 'Sternrubin', color code 82N.
********
In fact, those photos were taken at Zuffenhausen by RSGT (Gerald).
They were posted at the Reference PTS thread I started at the 991
gt3 forum. Maybe Gerald took notes of every color on that board.
You should ask him.

Eduardo,
I promised to keep you updated on my Birch Green GT4. "Kermit" finally arrived yesterday afternoon at my dealer and is going into the workshop for it's PDI today. Here are the first photo's they sent me. It looks suitable discreet even on a miserable, grey, wet winter morning in the Midlands of England

As for the color name I am requesting, I would be happy to share the name via email, but I am going to play my cards close to the chest until I can have a car built in the color. I have a personal attachment to the color and I am hoping to be the first if it gets approved.

Thank you, the information is much appreciated. I am familiar with
Acid Blue, but it sounds as though it is a relative of Club Blau, based
on your comments.

they have given in public to that effect. Then PAG went two
shades (probably) darker!
That is fine. Keep the information on the new color you have
requested confidential until you think it's appropriate to make
it public.

PTS window opened last week for some Porsche MY2017 models.
We don't know if there will be a MY2017 .2 991 gt3. But if there
is & allocations are handed out AFTER the PTS window closes for
the limited capacity PAG has for doing PTS at Zuffenhausen that
model year, you are S** out of luck!
Or Porsche may decide NO PTS for the .2 991 gt3, just
like what they elected NOT to allow for the few MY2016 .1 991 gt3!
Or they may skip a model year, release a .2 991 gt3 in MY2018,
& do it in a timely manner so that their allocations to dealers &
customers allow their manufacturing slots to qualify for the limited
# of PTS capable of being done by PAG at Zuffenhausen. Then
you & other customers wanting PTS on their .2 991 gt3s will be
'in' luck...& not 'SOL'.
We really don't understand yet how many decisions are made
re: PTS at Porsche. That is why I want to go to 'the source' &
interview them to get better insight as to how THEY view PTS.

What was trying to say was that perhaps they elected not to offer
PTS once the engine fiasco started. In order to save that time in
manufacturing a PTS car. Use that time for resolving the engine
issue and to move through the model cycle.
I have a deposit down for an allocation slot and the paperwork
states 2018. SA was sure that's what it'll be. However may not
actually be the case.

PTS is a program for various Porsche model across their product lines.
So the 'Stop Sale' on the MY2014 .1 991 gt3 should not, and did not,
effect PTS for the regular 991 & 981 models. Porsche has experienced
'quality control' issues (see photo below) with PTS that has created the
delays, the moratoriums & the temporary cancellations of the program
from time to time. They are not related to the engine issues. My dos
centavos for what it's worth.

No, that photo shows the downside of less than
perfect 'Just in Time' & 'Just in Sequence' logistics.
If you look closely, you see a variety of colors -
some PTS and some not.
'Voodoo Blue' or 'Maritime Blue' rear wing; 'Riviera Blue' rear bumper;
'Cognac' door handles; 'Lime Gold Metallic' rear view mirror casings;
And 'Aqua Blue Metallic' everything else!

For my theory on the 'Quality Control' problems that the PTS program
has experienced in recent past, I suggest you read the following post
that I wrote back on 11/15/2014:

These PTS issues are much more disconcerting that the ones I have encountered with other manufacturers.
I did european delivery on my M3 and had the car painted the wrong color. I can more easily accept a wrong color than I can a supply chain issue that produces some of the stories you posted above!

I just came across this thread. Excellent job and I really appreciate all the information. Its great to see that someone has such a passion for the P-car. I may have a GT4 allocation coming in. Do you know if the PTS window is open at this moment?

is that the PTS window has just opened (at least on
some .2 991 models). But that applies to MY2017
production. The gt4 is a MY2016 & the limited PTS
slots for that '16 model have already been taken.
The PTS window for the '16 gt4 closed in late July,
2015. Normally, that would mean that even if some
late allocations gt4s are handed out now, PTS would
not be possible on these. But best if you & your dealer
contact PCNA & PAG once the allocation is handed out
to double check that information! Good luck with your
future custom order!
