Default Too many owners?

I'm in the market for a Spyder and saw this listing from Ryan Freidman in New York. It looked really compelling until I checked the Carfax and saw 7 previous owners.
This seemed unusually high to me especially given the premium price but curious what others have seen and if it would be deal breaker for you.

Used 2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder For Sale ($103,995) | Ryan Friedman Motor Cars LLC Stock #1783C

Note: I know I'm posting about a 981 on a 718 forum but hoping that the question is general enough to be relevant to this group.

Yes, plenty of fish in the sea. Find a better example. Nothing but a negative when you try to sell. And you're not Ryan Friedman so imagine the pain you will be going through. Not every car he has is a homerun.

I have experience in this, and the problem is that Carfax isn’t always accurate. I also have a 991.2 Targa that when I bought it in 2021 showed some crazy amount of owners like 6-7. Not sure if one of the previous owners tried to sell it via multiple consignment shops and they somehow got recorded as an owner, or if a dealer took it in on trade and they had multiple locations with different business names so that’s what caused the issue, but Carfax at one point showed something like 3-4 owners in just a couple of weeks, and they were all dealers.

I bought the car anyway because it was a rare and beautiful spec, and have had it for three years and 20k trouble free miles. Maybe share the Carfax here and see if it’s similar or if it really changed a actual owners every six months?

I have a Spyder with 6 owners. The reality is this is not the type of car many people keep for a long time. They realize it's not for them (for example, they decide they just want to touch a button for the top) or they have automotive ADD. It's not like a Honda Odyssey where for most people there is no point in trying other minivans. People want to try different sports cars. The first conclusion to jump to shouldn't be that there are issues with the car as that is the least likely scenario.

7 owners for a 2016 car isn't a cause for concern for me. Many people have irrational reasons to not buy a car which often are a shrewd persons opportunity to get a good deal. Every car has a unique history and that's what you have to discover.

Right!
And if 7 PO's bother you, that means it'll bother other people as well. So it'll limit your resale value and pool of potential buyers.

Fwiw, my car was listed as 3 owners when I bought it but for some reason carfax counts the dealership as one when they leased it to the same guy who bought it off lease. Then he sold it to the guy I bought from. So instead of showing 2 owners, it's an extra one.

At under 10k miles an aftermarket warranty should still be “reasonably” priced. That’s a gorgeous car. I say make your best deal, get a PPI, buy it and enjoy it. Don’t worry about the number of previous owners or what buyers will think when you go to sell it. 981 Spyders are pretty much bulletproof. Mines a keeper.

I'm not an extended warranty kind of guy but that pricing seems extremely and surprisingly reasonable.

@sinking The advantage of Fidelity's mileage based pricing tiers, and Highline Autos' low prices.

Is a 1 owner car better? On paper ONLY it is.

Agree. This is pretty interesting... would be curious to see their higher deductible options.

Agree. It's pretty compelling given potential repair costs for any older Porsche. I would be curious to see if they have higher deductible options.
