Default 981 SPYDER rev-match

I’m a new owner and asked this question in the wrong forum earlier, so this time looking for feedback from 981 SPYDER owners.

Does anyone have rev matching (aka auto-blip) in forward gears under any scenario (i.e. sport, sport plus, PSE on/off)?

Correct; Sport Plus does only the rev match, thankfully. So, I just never touch it.....!

Rev matching on 981 Spyders only works in Sport Plus mode. If yours doesn’t, something is wrong.

So just to make sure I’ve got this right - all three of you (above) are reporting rev matching in forward gears while in Sport Plus, right?

Sorry to be picky here, but I’m going through a trouble-shooting process.

not sure exactly why you are saying "forward" gears. are you differentiating this from reverse gear or trying to say something else? just to clarify, 981 spyder normal behavior is to do rev matching auto blip when downshifting when the car is in sport plus mode. this feature is not active in regular or sport mode.

“Forward gears” My intent was upshifting versus downshifting.

So no one has “upshifting” rev match, only downshifting rev match and only in Sport Plus - correct?

The purpose of rev matching in the 981 platform is to match RPMs when downshifting.

It does not attempt rev matching when upshifting fortunately. Our 991.2 GT3 tries to rev match when upshifting (in addition to downshifting) and it is not a good algorithm.

Not sure that's entirely correct. There does seem to be some form of rev matching or at least a slower rate of rpm drop on upshifting when sports plus mode is engaged. Certainly upshifting is less smooth with sports plus disengaged. I recall reading this at some point and will try to find the source.

I certainly get rev-matching in any downshift when in sports+ and when I engage that by pressing the sport+ button the sports exhaust also turns on. But, if I recall correctly, when I remain in sport+ but then turn off the sport exhaust the rev-match goes away. My car is put away for the winter, so maybe one of you guys could try that sequence to see if I am correct?

sooooooo. maybe the case is not closed after all. i had never noticed this before today, but in sport plus mode on upshifting the revs seem to hold between 2500-3000 rpm while in other modes the revs just drop. i guess this is the upshifting version of rev matching? i honestly didn't know this was even a thing. it's far more subtle than the obvious rev matching when downshifting.

Exactly my observation in a 981 GT4. Indeed, if you're less smooth with your throttle input during a gear shift as the clutch re-enagages, you get an abrupt shift without sport plus engaged. In contrast, with it engaged, you can afford to be less smooth with inputs on upshift and still achieve a buttery smooth gear transition on account of the RPMs not dropping as quickly when the clutch is disengaged.

I'll try it tomorrow, but I think I still have rev-match in sport + with sport exhaust turned off. I also have a Softronic tune so don't remember if that affects rev-match in the various sport setttings. In all honesty I haven't noticed any difference in UPSHIFTS with sport + on- in fact, this is the first time I've heard about that with upshifts!

[emphasis added]

This is my experience with my 981 Spyder.

Also, with Sport+ engaged, then PSE deselected, mine still has rev-matching.
