2016 GT4 to Carmax
#31
you are absolutely not obligated to disclose what you sold it for, to Carmax or anyone; however, the drama and suspense that you created was telling. Either way, disclosing the number is helpful to determine some type of worth fo the car in a specific market. What I find disengenuous is that you advertised in a cavalier way what you paid for your new GT3, but refused to disclose what you traded your GT4 for. No obligation, but you came off like dangling a carrot in everyone's face in what appears to be an effort to make a half-a$$ effort to seek a buyer (or have someone else do that work for you). I have no doubt you recognize the foregoing. I am simply writing this for other peoples' benefit in case they missed something about you. You must know exactly what you did. In writing to you (which is not worth the time), you helped me remember similar traits and why your posts triggered me. I believe I owe you a thank you: Thank you.

Pro tip, Carvana will give you more money most of the time and you don't have to go anywhere. When trading in at a dealer, always get a Carvana quote first to have in your back pocket. If the dealer can't match it then you can sell to carvana or meet somewhere in the middle. Carvana quotes takes 5 minutes to get from their website and you'll have the quote in an email. I have never sold or purchased from Carvana, but I've used them a lot to haggle.
I've done the CarMax thing twice and the quotes have been significantly lower plus I had to drive there and wait.

Here is my take on my car and why and reason i posted a quick inquiry on a possible sale here on this board and quick sale without posting a official ad. Carmax gave me a hit number and i was going to offer the car to a buyer here on this board as long as the numbers is or at the same price point as Carmax. Would be nice if offer is more than Carmax. I did not get any inquiry or P/M before i took the car to Carmax. She is now gone and disclosing dollar is not fair to the dealer in my opinion. They are there to make a buck or two and they are entitled to make a few coins.

Think I figured out why the OP sent to carmax. Despite the claim it was only tracked once, it appears this was a high use track car. Still not the route I would have gone, but at least makes a bit more sense.
from a PM the OP sent me last year:

Ugghhh. Thanks for posting. I need to not be triggered when I see these kind of threads. Cup 2s on the track. I'm scarred for life by those tires on the track. I keep saying it's what I would consider the best dual purpose track tire for those who arrive and drive in their own cars, but, as a dedicated track tire, there is better. That said, I put a set on my 981 GT4 to replace the PS4s not long ago. I like them better. I don't drive in the rain and love the grip and feel for the street. I would still take the car to the track for a day on those tires if I have chance, but I have an E36 track car and a 997.2 Cup car that competes for my attention. I wonder if that setup in the post above rubbed the fenders.

Correct and the car was intended for mainly track abuse but I never got around it. I set the car up for track use and for this year.Plan has changed and went different direction. I went as far as bought a set of 19 apex wheels with brand new Yokohama tires I bought for the car and they are sitting around unused as of today. Track wise and miles under my ownership, I bought the car with or around 10500 miles and suspension parts were mounted/installed around 6/2022 now the car just past 12k miles. Car was checked out at Sp motorsport when I bought it with a clean mint report and zero over revs. I would guess today the car is still in the same mechanical condition. I put maybe 500 miles on or less since suspension was installed (6/22). More than happy to forward all records to or who ever happen to buy my GT4. 1 track day 2 track days or all 500 miles on the track or what ever miles one may think..... the car has no issues with suspension and any mechanical issues in my opinion.

Need as much as I can to get the correct price on this thing and revive it back to it's glory. Thanks!

Congrats on the car Bryan. I am glad the Porsche dealership confirmed there are no issues with the car. As I mention to you Fletcher Jones had no clue on the car and its health. The last service they did was replaced tranny (recall) at or around 3k miles. Congrats man and I will send you all records on the GT4.
