Default PPF-TRACK-REMOVE-RESULTS?

Has anyone put PPF or another type of protection on their car, tracked it enough to collect a good bit of debris, and then removed it? What I want to know is if really and truly protects the finish, especially the nose, sufficiently that it doesn't require a repaint or replacement. After 7 years of DEs the nose of my 987.1 Cayman S looked like it had been sandblasted. I also had to replace the windshield that you could hardly see through looking into the sun. I'm going to do some DEs in my "new" 981 CS and it is too pretty to trash. It came w/ a PPF on it but I wonder if I need to tape it off as well? Thanks.

My car came with ClearPlex on the windshield which was blasted with pebbles for a very dull and hazy look. I removed it and the windshield was pristine! Then I added ClearPlex again to it but I made a few little mistakes.

Most of the car had PPF on it and all the paint underneath it is pristine. I highly recommend covering anything on the exterior that you want looking new, especially on track. My previous car didn't have PPF and has the sand blasted look to prove it.

If a rock hits the car hard enough or the rock is sharp or large enough it will damage the car's finish even with PPF, but the PPF will protect against most of the crap that is thrown at the car on the track and the street and if you want to take the car on track PPF is a must do. I also tape up my headlights when I go out on track and that has worked very well for me. I don't bother to put tape over the PPF though. That would be a lot of work and not really worth the hassle.

Thanks, guys, for that helpful info. I'll tape the headlights and put somemthing on the windshield. State Farm paid for one but the next one is on me.

I've had great experience with Mother's R3 (Racing Rubber Remover) for track scars - https://mothers.com/products/r3-raci...-remover-09224

....and as for PPF, this didn't happen on the track, but shows the value of PPF. Dumb *** scraped my GT4 in a parking lot. I pulled off the PPF and it did it's job!

I have PPF on the front, but also apply track armor on top of it to reduce the cleanup after. R3 also isn't good on ceramic coating and it'll reduce it's longevity, so I've been using Gyeon TAR instead.

I used the Xpel Tracwrap on my car for a DE event and was happy with it. I did get a little scuffing of the paint from a corner of the wrap that loosened and flapped in the wind. If I had paid attention I would have taped that corner down to prevent paint damage.

On my Lotus which I tracked two dozen times, the paint that didn’t peel off with the 10+ year old ppf was perfect. But since I had to repaint anyway it was for naught.

Xpel has definitely protected the nose of my GT4 over many track sessions, but it is not impenetrable as you know. I am not finicky on this front, so I expect that I could live with the appearance with the film removed, but ai realize not everyone would feel the same.
