Rick installed those gears in my 4L and they've been awesome. Only a few thousand miles on them so far and no track days yet but they're excellent for the street, the 1-2 shift is soooooo much better, rev matching works perfectly, and it basically is how the tranny should have come from the factory.

Rick, shouldn't the dia. be 25in. for a 295/30-18 vs the 27in. on the chart?

I was thinking that a 10-15mph drop in each of 2-5 would seem "good". Those and a taller 6th that would drop 500rpm off highway speeds and I'd start dailying it, despite my 110mi commute.

The OEM outside tire diameter is correct, 27". I assume that's all that matters

Beale:

Very nice write up and even nicer build. Is there anyway we could get some more pictures of the interior of your car? I love what you did with the wood shift **** and the inserts.

Thanks!

Yes, a proper clutch to hold the power and remain smooth along with a lightweight flywheel is being used in the 4.5L conversions.

This was actually my biggest concern with the whole thing since I absolutely love the stock clutch/throw feel as its so equally weighted. After 15mins in the demo cars I actually forgot the clutch wasn't factory. The flywheel spins at a nice rate and very minimal chatter too.
