For a street car I would go 718 GTS believe it would be more fun everyday due to its torque. If buying new why not look into a used 991.2 carrera.

Good reminder. Additionally, I read a thread over on the GT3 sub forum, where a gentlemen crashed his GT3 at Road Atlanta chasing his personal best. It was a reminder to me that I’m not a race car driver and for how I use it, driving at about 8/10 capability, the GT4 is all the car I need.

The Porsche Cayman GTS is a car you buy because you can’t quite stomach the price of a Cayman GT4. It is great to drive, really quick and even has a decent amount of space. The new 718 Cayman has boatloads of torque but we hate the lack of charisma in its turbocharged four engine. We’d buy a used 981 Cayman GTS with a naturally aspirated flat six and manual box.

LOL, what was there, $3000 difference in MSRP between 981GTS and 981 GT4? That's somebody slicing their finances pretty damn thin if cost delta was the determinant between the two.

To be fair, that's US pricing; GB could have had a much bigger delta I suppose.

My wife saw a picture of the GT4 and said" Are you really gonna drive around every day in a car with a wing?" LOL

My wife and I test drove my GT4 and a heavily spec'd 718 Cayman S (Not a GTS) back to back. About two minutes into the Cayman S drive she looked at me and said...and this is word for word..."This car is a f***ing marshmallow". She then proceeded to detail what would happen to some very important body parts of mine if I purchased the 718 and not the GT4. To be clear...they were quite unpleasant things.

So I bought the GT4.

We are both happy and my important bits are still intact..although clearly owned and managed by my spouse.

and you know what's even worst...that you may think with an exhaust system the 718 sound could be improved...WRONG!!!!
At our last track day I was working on my GT4 and someone said " check out the Subaru..." I wasn't looking so I was expecting an STI but to my surprise there it was... a brand new 718 S with a full exhaust and ECU mod.
Car was pretty fast out of the box but man does the sound sucks big time.....it was even worst when I took to the track and I made several passes on my GT4 with Race Headers and GT3 exhaust conversion...no contest!

Great, so I can conclude both of you know zip about performance cars and don't understand the trend in suspension is to a softer setting because .....................

Utter garbage, I don't own a GT3 but do own a 981 GTS, 991.2 GTS and a 720S and I still wouldn't buy a 981 GT4. It has nothing to do with money.
