Oh I keep forgetting to ask. Sloan claims this is one of only 138 Carmine Red GT4s -- no qualifiers like "...with Smokers Package, PCCB, LWBs, AC Delete, and made on a Thursday in September." I would have thought there are 138 Carmine Red GT4s on here! Seriously, I'd have bet it was one of the most popular colors. But that sounds like a less-than-5% number (not sure how many total GT4s there are in the world.)

I was at a track day at Road Atlanta last year where there were 4 GT4s and a 2 CSs, and all 4 of the street cars were CR. So are Sloan's numbers wrong, or did a large percent of the CR GT4 population just happen to land in the ATL?

The db shows 136. So, Sloan saying 138 w/o specifying NA or WW seems to be essentially correct.

regardless of miles or any special color a GT4 is not and never will be a collectable car.
I do not understand why sloan jr has it for sale.
his father was much more attuned to porsche inventory

If a reasonable mileage BMW E39 M5 is starting to significantly appreciate indicating collectability, I struggle to see how the first run of the GT4, particularly at this mileage level, wouldn’t be collectible as well. Natural aspirated, manual, and a direct response to many enthusiasts asking for a kit like the GT4, it is and will be collectible (at some point).

Mooty is not someone I would ordinarily bet against....except on this point. I agree with GreggMorton.

+ 1 here, He's been around the block a few times, I cant understand mooty's GT4 bashing here and on the GT3 threads. As the saying goes "if you cant say something nice then......."
Maybe he likes the grenading .1 & .2 GT3 engines

^ it's no bashing. I had 3 cayman S (first gen), 1 cayman R, 1 gT4 and 1 GT4CS
I am getting the next GT4 and GT4RS, if they were bad, I wouldnt be getting them.
it's a good car but it will not appreciate.
E39M5 in the bimmer line is not the same position as GT4 in porsche line.

Gt4 is a car to drive and enjoy. It’s not a car you collect and bubble wrap.

the filter is working! why waste their time talking to people that want to pay market price?

also, for the ultimate buyer, it's a benefit to them to have the price unpublished.

i don't mind when prices aren't published ... just tells me to move on.

I have to agree with Mooty. You only really have to look back into Porsche's own history to back up his assertions.

914s 928s 944s. Etc. Those are starting to gain some more popularity now but a 1xx mike example of any of those won't bring 911 @ 1xx mile cash. I'm sure one of you with hard data will prove me wrong though haha.

I don’t think that anyone is disagreeing with that a base Cayman or Boxster isn’t a likely collectable, as that’s the comparison to 914s and 924s and 944s. Those are not GT cars. A non GT 911 is also not a GT car.

Ok GT4 may not be as collectable as a GT3 or GT3RS in the future but is NOT the same as 914,924,944 and 928, I would most likely say its like a 72 911T and not the 911S

Maybe GT4 is like 914-6. Never going to be as valuable as a similar year, similar miles rare 911 (like S, much less RS, RSR, R, ST, etc.). But could be more valuable than same year, same condition run-of-the-mill 911. I.e. 914-6 was an entry-level Porsche coupe with a neutered 911 motor stuffed in, but a 911 motor all the same. Sound familiar?

$82,000 914, June 2018 sale.
