Default Spyder DE

I have a DE at silverstone coming up. I don't have a true modern GT car currently that I would tend to use for a DE event. I am considering my 981 spyder. Assuming I'm not pushing 10/10's with the lack of safety of a soft top, is there anything that should cause me to pause about throwing an bone stock Spyder on the track?

It's my first time at Silverstone and first time using UK/Euro passing rules. My other stuff I own, I'd probably only want to take once I've got some experience there. If something happens to the spyder, it's a financial bummer but I'll survive.

I'd love to take my CS there eventually but 1) not much time behind the wheel yet and 2) assume i would need to find a way to muffle that beast to pass noise restrictions.

Hard to give you a recommendation without more info. Plenty of people track Spyders. How much track experience do you have? If not a lot, then the stock Spyder should be fine, assuming the track has no open top prohibitions. A Cayman S is an excellent choice for tracking at all experience levels. Not sure why you believe yours might be too loud?

CS = Challenge Stradale 360

I'm no expert level DE but I've done plenty. But never in a convertible; typically a gt3/gt4/RS. Just curious if anything i should keep in mind in more of a street focused convertible like the spyder.

Good to hear plenty of people track spyders. I've seen plenty in person and pics on scenic drives but none on the track to date.

Spyder is a very neutral handling car . Good safe choice. It will burn thru front tire due to push. Stock camber adjustment is too limited. You will need arm restraints due to the car being a convertible

I have a lot of track miles under my belt, and found that at my level of experience, my stock 981 Spyder handled Sebring Raceway just fine on the one track day I took it there. It didn’t maintain the same pace through turns as my track car because of the stock front camber, but the brakes functioned flawlessly, something that is a real achievement for an unmodified street car pushed to the limit at this particular track.

Glad to hear the vote of confidence. I don't plan to turn it into a track car. Probably a 1-2 time experience.
