Really not sure how porsche could provide the 718 clubsports to the racing teams without doing an unveil beforehand.
On the 981 we all saw official videos and from other media outlets before the car was officially launched at the Geneva Motor Show....they could pretty much do the same using the GT4 CS deliveries as a media launch for the street GT4.
We all pretty much knew the main GT4 specs before the official launch as I remember bugging my dealer everyday during December and January 2015.
Speaking of reveals.... I just watched the 992 debut from Los Angeles and was completely underwhelmed.
In fact, I walked straight into my garage and gave my GT4 a great big hug!

I know nothing about the race car so I'll go with what the experienced guys on this forum are saying.
The GT4CS will be launched at the IMSA Roar before the 24H in Daytona Florida January 3rd.
This will let everybody here know at least what the new engine will be.
Now, if they launch the street car along side of the race car on the same day that would really something! But given that it is not an auto show I cannot see that happening.
That would be awesome! I know marketing likes the crowds and lights of a major international car show but to present the race car at the track with a ton of press and oh, by the way, we brought a street car too, would be hardcore.
They just keep making the thing (911) larger and larger and heavier and heavier... while the Cayman gets more desireable. As the guy above said I also gave my 981 gt4 a big hug. Best drivers car!
You think? I can’t stand the third brake light and exhaust/bumper set up... the front looks okay imo.
I don't like the third brake light either, but I imagine it's something I could probably get over. I don't really like the sports exhaust either but if you go with the regular exhaust you get quad pipes which does look good. Of course you will be sacrificing the sound then. Point in case, yeah the rear definitely has flaws but given enough time I could see myself becoming more accepting of the changes. The front though...
