He did with the 981 GT4. They gave it the 911 3.8L but made it less fast with the smaller throttle body.
I think we will see the same result with the 718 GT4. GT3 engine with smaller throttle body and less redline. So less fast as result, but plenty fast for GT4 racing worldwide.

Pretty sure all GT cars are build on the same production line as regular 911's, Caymans and Boxsters. I visited the factory in '16 and I saw a bunch of 911R's and GT3RS's on the same line as base boxsters, caymans and 911's...
Interesting combo of cars... GT4, 718 GT4, 718 Spyder, 992 and 992 cab, 991.2 Targa GTS, 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman S. The conspiracy theorist in me says you test turbo cars against turbo ones.
