Agree!

first headline to say it in a statement instead of as a question... the article goes on the say that it "should" have a naturally aspirated engine. Perhaps a way to keep true to the Porsche imposed info embargo.
That article also states that we should expect the new GT4 to be manual transmission only which I find hard to believe. The magazines usually know less than what members on the car forums know.

But my guess is that it's NOT the 3.0l turbo or the 4l NA. I think it's either a four banger turbo or a continuation of the 3.8NA. Or it's a flux capacitor.

There were plenty of rumors stating that for the previous M2.

Then maybe they'll just stick 1 turbo on the six?

I'm thinking 3.8NA based on Eduardo's report from an official Porsche source 😉 the Spyder will be NA.

motortrend is probably the best US rag, but has had some wild guesses on future cars.

Anecdoately, i’m on the Raptor forums because I’m considering a new raptor as my new DD. a lot of speculation that a 7.0l V8 will make a return. I think that’s very unlikely. Ford just spent the past four years touting ecoboost as the future, even putting it in the GT. Why undo that by putting a V8 in the raptor now? I think Porsche is kind of in the same boat with the 718 GT4. They just spent the past year touting turbo as a the future.

He can just say, we wanted to make it less fast.
Hah, detune from the 520hp in the .2 RS 4L. The 991 GT3 to 981 GT4 gap was 90hp so no big deal, we buy it anyway

This is 100% happening for the M2 Comp. still holding out hope for the detuned 4.0 for the Gt4/spyder. If it's a 4cyl turbo I'm out.

Based on the pictures, I am inclined to think it could be the 3L Turbo engine of the C2S. This would keep the cost the 718 GT4 down, it would be in line with what they did with previous GT4, it would help to comply with new stricter emissions rules and it would also match the exhaust styles we have been seeing on the mules.

^^^ this! If that happens, I think the GT4 would be more capable with all that torque down low. Although I did jump from a 991.2 C4S to the GT4 mainly for the exhaust note and more raw experience.

More proof that we only believe what we want to believe on Rennlist, facts (like the 911 6-cyl turbo doesn't fit in the Boxster/cayman chassis) don't seem to matter when it comes to wild conjecture.

Ahem.. I think it will be a v8.. and I can point to a million reasons inside my head why this is probable.

yea, but we've heard the same rhetoric before about certain x51 kits not fitting....and BGB and others have proved them wrong.

This is all speculation, nothing to take so seriously. We will know when it will be announced.
