Fuel Cut-Off Valve Operatiion
I have a 100L tank in a 981 CS. While changing the fuel pumps I just noticed that the PULL cap on the fuel cut-off valve has a zip tie wrapped under the cap to keep it in the extended position. The zip tie was installed sometime before I received the car.
The fuel system has operated perfectly for the two years I have had the car, until the recent pump problem. If I understand it correctly the technical manual indicates the valve opens with fuel pressure and will close if there is a leak, which would cause loss of fuel pressure. This sounds like a reasonable safety feature.
Are these valves unreliable or is there some other reason to keep the valve open?

Someone before you would've zip tied it most likely to try and bandaid an issue with the fuel system- weak pumps, clogged fuel filters etc. I would highly recommend removing the zip tie, if you high pressure line is severed the pumps will run at full blast dumping out fuel, could be very dangerous

My 981 CS that was campaigned by Black Falcon Racing also has a small zip tie under the Pull ****. It’s holding it open maybe 1/8” at most. I’ll remove it and see what happens.
