If you afford it, order a brand new 718CS Track version from PMNA

Yes but they usually have a "track version" of the CS for every iteration. At least they used to when I last inquired to buy a CS for racing.. The difference is that race series specific versions, eg IMSA/SRO, will have additional homologated specs. Track version is probably faster. Please inquire from PMNA and see

the new gt4rs cs only comes in one variant. I have inquired with PMNA. Due to shortage of supplies and employee they will not sell to track day customers and new cars will only go to teams that will commit to a full season of racing in different series.

On another note I am planning on going gt3 cup from my street 992 gt3. I don't know if that will be a overkill but we shall see.

A well driven 718cs on slicks is faster then a well driven 991.1RS at Sebring on R compounds.
So power and speed are not going to be missed.

I race a 718CS and a 992 Cup full season. Love them both.
The 718 is less fatigue. The 992 cup is intense.
A/C in the 718 is nice along with ESC and TC.
The engine/transmission rebuild schedule in 992 is something you will eventually have to deal with on a purchase or resale level.

I would sugguest a 718CS.

This is a question that has been haunting me for a while now. I have a MT 991.2 GT3 that is mainly used for track days and well sorted with 19” forgelines, AP racing brakes, e-motion full monoball control arms, Manthey wing, but only half cage with 6-point harness… I am well within the same lap times of a 718 CS and would love to jump to the safety (and fun) of a real properly factory built race car.

I use it for 6-8 track weekends a year but also a few very fun drives with friends such as Smokies. Dont have the garage space (aka pocket space) to just add a CS. Thought about trying to turn the GT3 into a 918CS and a non-GT3 991 or 997. But so hard to give up my current car.

I may eventually just bite the bullet and do it...

very similar to me, but i'm asking myself these questions before i'm making modifications. i started looking at what i needed (brakes, roll cage, harness etc...) and kept coming back to safety. driving 155 mph with only a helmet and hybrid device seems to be a bad idea. i luckily have a friend with some extra space, so i have a home for it.
