Guys, CarId is a drop shipper like most companies out there. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. HOWEVER, there is a problem if they are lying about delivery time and availability.

If you look at their site, they "stock" everything, even non car items. They would be bigger than Amazon if that was the case.

I stock the items I sell daily, but outsource 90% of what I sell or items that sell less frequently. CarID likely does the same thing. They have warehouse "A" in-house filled with items that are ordered every day, then lots of warehouse "B" or frontline vendors that stock and drop ship items for them.

It sounds like you are ordering an item from a third party group that has a middle man between the part and CarID. You'd be better off ordering from Pep Boys.

What I find amazing is the service from Tire Rack. I have ordered a tire on Thursday afternoon and had it show up on Friday morning. WTF? Reno to Rancho in 17 hours. Wow!!!!

Also had blistering fast service from App-Biz. Ordered a custom cut carpet kit for the 911. Perlon (RS/RSR) felt and Cabriolet dies and it was at my door in 48 hours. HOLY CRAP, Bob. . A one off, never before made item shipped next day.

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. If they can get me my wheels and tires to me by the 15th as originally promised I'm happy. If not, I hope they do the right thing and cancel my order so I can get them from a vendor who can.

Again, I almost understand why Comcast is Comcast. But CARid isn't a utility, so they are to me fresh/new, and they do have a challenge of staffing people who are stuck in their Fast and Furious days and show up late for work because they were plastidipping their rims again, but they know a lot about tire/wheel plus one's, they've slapped on an intake, and they've got expensive seats in their beater Civic. So, you deal with them, because they're car guys that you can pay 30 g's per year, but they can only get that new wing for their ride if they up-sell, cross-sell and keep their handle time with you to a minimum. Ship cheap, sell more, etc. Don't spend time contacting wearhouses, shippers, vendors, etc. How can they, when they need every available rep on calls, chats, sending emails, etc. No time, bro.

Hey, biz is biz, but they need to be careful it's not penny-wise and dollar-foolish.

.

I've ordered from CariD twice. First time, it was for brake rotors for the 911 that were supposedly in stock. Turns out they weren't and the manufacturer wasn't making them for a couple of months. They gave me a $25 credit and I ended up cancelling the order (after waiting ~3 months). A few weeks ago, I placed an order for a set of WeatherTech floor mats and they arrived promptly.

Sounds like a load of BS to me. Even if it's "custom ordered", if it isn't made yet they can cancel the order.
A reasonable person would come to this conclusion since the shipping date says November 2nd.

Just received this email from support. Looks like the finally admitted the items were in fact NOT "in stock".

"Dear Daniel,

Thank you for the email.

I am very sorry, but we cannot cancel your order.

Per my shipping department, we already received 2 rims, and will receive another rims within 24-48 business hours. We will ship them to you ASAP."

Can't! Credit card company (Bank of America) will not allow it siting CARiD's policy and Federal CC laws. Obviously CARiD knows this hence the reason they told me what I wanted to hear in order to place the order. They have the CC's policy "clocked" in their favor.

Avoid the aneurysm and just have the charges reversed on your credit card.

Just present the facts.

Unless you prefer the drama. Some do.
