"Porsche by Design: Seducing Speed marks the North Carolina Museum of Art's first design exhibition, exploring the history and development of the Porsche lineage from the 1930s to the present day."

This is going to be an outstanding event for Porschephiles and car-nuts everywhere, and will only be presented at the North Carolina Musuem of Art. The exhibit will run from October 12, 2013 to January 20, 2014.
There will be 22 unigue and historic cars on display, from a 1938 Type 64 prototype to the 997 GT3 R Hydrid race car. The event is being curated by Ken Gross who has been responsible for a number of car-related museum exhibits, including the outstanding "Allure of the Automobile" at the High Museum in Atlanta a few years ago.
The total list of exhibit cars includes:

1949 356/2 Gmund Coupe (the 17th car built by Porsche)
1953 550 Coupe prototype
1960 710 RS60
1958 356A Speedster
1960 356B Carrera GTL Abarth Coupe

1962 804 Formula One
1968 908K, short tail
1971 917K, short tail
1969 917 16-cylinder prototype

Members of the Hurricane Region PCA are being trained as part-time docents for this exhibit, to help the Museum staff with some of the more technical aspects of the cars as well as to communicate the "Porsche Passion" to the audience.

It's my understanding it's the first time it's left the Museum. It's going to be very cool to see "The Frog" in person!

A weird design no doubt, but it had in it a lot of the design language that led Porsche through the nineties, into the new millennium and to today.
The color combo on that car inspired the combo on the most highly-optioned Porsche 964 they made, which was equipped with a one-off engine mated to a one-off PDK transmission from the 962 adapted for the 964.
