RX would grenade,

Kid in the Supra would hit a pole,

Yuppie in the TT P-car would make a wrong turn while talking on his cell phone.

Hello

Where will you compare ?

If you would compare them on a OVAL track or at a drag race the AWD 996 TT would maybe be the winner.

On a racetrack like the Nordschleife the 996 TT would maybe the winner to but a RX7 driven from a guy with big ***** would maybe blow a 996TT away.

Don´t know the Supra but based on the old version the car isn´t competive. Its made to run against a Mercedes, Nissan Skyline or a BMW or a normal 996.

I personally own a 1993 rx-7 TT. It is extremely fast, light and the handling is unbelievable. The stats on my car are 4.7 to 60 and 13.4 1/4 mile. The only porsche i ever raced was a 95 993 at a stop light. It was really close as I edged him out as I hit about 75. I also have a normally aspirated 996 which is also fast, but do not know which would win they are 2 totally different cars.

Porscheluv,

Just out of curiosity, how many miles are on your RX? Have you done the engine rebuild yet? (Just asking this b/c all of my friends with 3rd gen RX's, have.)

I have 34,000 miles on the original engine. She runs great so far, but yes I have heard the many horror stories that these engines have around 70,000 but it depends on maintence and of course most people redline these cars daily and that will blow an apex seal. I get on her once an awhile but most of the time it's just nice knowing the power is their if you need it.

I'm a sports car fanatic and this is one of my cars that I plan on keeping forever (reason for low miles). Rx-7's and 911's are my 2 favorite cars of all time.

personally from my experience, my cousin and I had a 93 Rx7 and it was a horror. We had the original engine, blew it up. One of the apex seals collapsed, then we had the engine completly rebuilt, It had zero mile on it. all new housings, seals, gaskets, the works. We even opened up the intake and exhaust ports for more flow. Broke it in nice and easy. It blew up anyway! We never pulled it too hard. Those engines are just too extreme and too unreliable. Then we had rebiult a third and it was going fine, until we decided to sell it. I think the supra would definitely have more of a chance on a 996 tt but both stock, the porsche would win. If modded, in a straight line, the supra will take off, but on the track, it's a different story.

Silver,

Most of my friends with RX's have the same story as you... I know one guy who refuses to dyno his 3rd gen because if it blows, he "won't have a ride home." Porscheluv, are you the original owner?

Yes, I'm the original owner and the car is 100% stock I have made no modifiactions. I know from talking to most rotary specialists that as you do more modifications on your car even going to a cone filter can cause you problems to your engine. Like I said some are not reliable, but the rotary can be a very reliable engine. Sorry to hear about your unfortunate problems.

From my experience, I have noticed that if the rotary engine is 100% stock, then it will greaty reduce the risk for a problem for the owner. We also had a new computer installed, but it didn't help. The main reason why it's so unreliable is because the engine is turbocharged. You never hear of the first and second gen N/A rx7s blowing up. IMO that's what I think it is.

Hello

RX7 engines are solid as long no one turns the powerscrew or overevs more then usefull.

I love that one: We even opened up the intake and exhaust ports for more flow. Broke it in nice and easy. It blew up anyway!

Nice idear, but it hurts the "coating" and thats why it didn´t worked.

Grüsse
