Hi Adrian.
No need to spend more time investigating - as far as I'm concerned the matter is finished - Porsche sell the child seat as an official Porsche part, both in the UK and in Germany, with explicit instructions and pictures showing it fitted in the rear seat. The Tequipment sections on the web site also contain a table which states explicitly that they can be fitted in the rear. In my mind this means that they are approved.
Anyway the most important factor is that the existence of a child seat means I was allowed to buy the car!!!
