How do we afford nice cars?

1. Don't drink
2. Don't smoke
3. Don't go on holiday
4. Don't spend any money on the home
5. Wear crap clothes

Works for me

No need to be curious, just think of all the Porsche you could afford if you didn't have to pay tax.

no taxes, no roads; we'd HAVE to buy Cayennes - the only Porsche drivable on what would remain of the "public steets"...

Dear Kevin,
I have to disagree with you here slightly. 911 C4s, 993TTs and 996TTs and Cayennes. The C4 is terrific off road as are the TTs. Slap in 6mm spacers all round on top of the struts and shocks for more ground clearance if you wish and off you go. Just have to live with the stone chips,
Ciao,
Adrian

Very promising, Adrian. I wonder though, given the depth of the potholes here in America's cities, if a "Paris-Dakar" ride height package might be in order for the C4s... & you would be evaluating that new generation of "high profile, high speed tires"...

$50K a year would be nice. Anyone want to hire a media manager at that salary? Will start immediately.

It gets real tricky when you make half that... but it can be done. Thank god for high credit limits and low intrest rates.

Might as well enjoy one now. Next stage of life that will lend itself to having a sports car and free weekends will be when I am 50+ and the kids are gone.

They best advice I received was from my father when I asked him the same question about his new Jaguar in 1978. The advice?...........Do what you love and the money will follow.

I just bought my third 911 (996) and enjoy it everyday go to a profesion I love.

Thumbs up

People often ask me how I can afford to have such nice cars. I have a dinky campus job at my college that pays at the most $100 per week if I max my hours.

All my life I've been an entrepreneur, my first venture was a Coke machine. Then I got into comic books and computers and from there I jumped to cars and website design. I bought my first Porsche when I was 17 or 18. I actually bargoned and traded for it. A wrecked 300SD Mercedes for a wrecked 86 944 T. I'm almost 21 now and am on my 6th Porsche. I currenly have 3, '79 911 SC, '87 944 NA, & an '84 911 Targa. I buy em needing a little TLC, put some work and bloody nuckles into them and sale for a profit. Then buy a newer nicer car. I currently have my '87 944 and '84 Targa listed in the classifieds. I'm ready to move up to be a more sophisticated investor and I think I've gone as far as I can go with older Porsches.

I also am often asked, how can you just let them go. I try not to fall in love with them, they are just stepping stones towards a 996 GT2 or a Ruf R Turbo. Bottom line it's all a mater of priorites, I don't waist money on dumb stuff, like all my friends do, in return I get to have nice toys. I also reccomend reading Robert Kiosiki's book Rich Dad Poor Dad. It will you change your mind to figure out how to afford a Porsche. <img src="graemlins/r.gif" border="0" alt="[king]" />

Cool

If you are willie nillie, mamby pamby, wishy washy, meek, mild, timid or a handwringer, don't bother.
