Greg, We will be meeting in the SB area right off the 101 freeway. Specific meeting place to be decided on soon. A map will be posted with directions probably late next week. We now have 18 cars and not sure how many bodies yet. Hopefully more will join in as we get closer.

Personally for me, if someone lists a food-related post like where and what kinds of munchies we'll be feasting in on, I'd definitely be interested. So perhaps there are lurkers waiting on the final dining destination?

Well Danno, Since you already said you were in you are not backing out now. ;-)
My first thought was to head over the pass and then take Fig Mtn Rd up to the ranger station. Took the road not to long ago and it was in great shape and alot of fun. On the trip down the mtn we could make a quick stop at Neverland Ranch and give MJ our best. Then, about 11am, head over to Firestone Vineyard for some wine tasting and munchies. We also could do one of the other wineries in the area or Grand Ave in Los Olivos where they have about a dozen or so wine tasting rooms within about 50yards of each other. From there head back down torwards SB on the 154 and stop off at Cold Springs Tavern for lunch.
Well Danno, hows that sound?

Danno, Dont be thinking you are getting out of this one.
Ok here is what I have planned. We would make the drive over to the valley via 154 then drive up Fig Mtn Rd to the ranger station and back. I drove this road not to long ago and it was alot of fun and in good shape. On the way back down we could stop by Neverland Ranch and give MJ our best. Now the time is about 11am and we would head over to one of the local winery's for some tasting. Firestone comes to mind. We could do a tour but a firm head count would be needed. So a little tasting and some munchies then take the 154 to Cold Springs Tavern for some lunch (12:30ish). Option instead of the winery would be Grand Ave in Los Olivos. 12 wine tasting rooms within about 50 yards of each other. Plenty of nicnac shopping for those who enjoy that.
I am looking into other back roads and routes this week. So next week should have in nailed down. I heard from a freind of another back road and going to drive it Sat morning.
Hows that sound Danno?

I'm in! Two of my favorite activites, DRINKING & FEASTING! Perhaps we should get a head-count and make reservations at the Cold Springs Tavern? That place can get pretty crowded on weekends.

Sorry for not responding, I have had some computer problems the last few days but I think I got her all fixed up.
Pat & Sean- Glad to have you aboard.
Been for acouple of scouting drives and have found a few options. Will be making another one this afternoon and stopping at the Tavern to talk to the manager about going there.
As we sit we have about 22 Porsches and 30-35 people, so Cold Springs Tavern may be a stretch.
Should have all the 411 by the end of next week.

Phil, Thought about that but 101 is a little blah. But I did do 101 - 1 - Santa Rosa Road- Ballard Canyon - Los Olivos. That was fun. Only came across 3 cars on Santa Rosa - Ballard Canyon and that was yesterday ( Saturday @ 11am). A few spots were a little rouch, but if my 71 could make without falling apart anything could. Not teeth jarring mind you, but kept you on your toes.

I will post here and send emails to all when finalized.

So barring bad weather, which we never get here in SB, Saturday- Feb 8th at 9am at a meeting spot to be detrimined in SB. A 2 hour or so drive through some twisty's, a little wine tasting, some lunch, and alot of great Porsche people.

Okay, Here is the schedule for the Santa Barbara Inaugural Run.

9:00 to 9:30 will be meet and greet at the 76 Station, 20 Winchester Canyon Road, Goleta, Ca. 93117. I will be there at 8:30am to meet the early risers.
It is right off the 101 Freeway on the way out of Goleta going north.
We will meet and fill up with gas here. We will leave at 9:30am sharp!

For those of you who would rather fill up with something other then 76 let me know and I can direct you to several others stations right in the area (Chevron & Mobil)

For those who will need a Starbucks fix, I can direct you to one about a mile away.

9:30 – We will leave the 76 Station heading north on the 101. We will exit at the 1 turn off and head towards Lompoc. We will stay on the 1 until Santa Rosa Road just before Lompoc and head to Buellton. Once in Buellton we take the 246 for 2 miles and turn on Ballard Canyon Road. This will lead us Los Olivos. Once in Los Olivos we will take Foxen Canyon Rd to Firestone Winery.

11:00 – We will arrive at Firestone winery for some wine tasting and snacks (provided). We will be here for about 45min.

11:45 – We will head back down Foxen Canyon Road to the 154. Driving the 154 we will head to Cold Springs Tavern for lunch. We will exit 154 at Stagecoach Road just past the Rancho San Marcos Golf Course. This tight windy little road will lead us to the Tavern.

12:30 – Lunch at Cold Springs Tavern. After lunch those who wish may hangout at the Tavern and listen to some music, others may wish to leave and head back into Santa Barbara via the 154.

Please bring some warm clothes as the Tavern is tucked up a canyon and does not see much sun this time of year.

The Run will be called off do to rain, which we don’t plan on having. Hell it is Santa Barbara after all.

I will need to know by the 26th of January if drivers will have company. Those who have already informed me of significant others joining them do not have to post that again. The attached list is who we have coming. Maps of the route will be provided at the meet and greet.

Hey, if anyone has FRS radios, bring those too. Makes for more fun banter on the drives. Dan, can you drag that Tyson character up? I need to pick his brains on their OTC entry.... (after a couple of drinks of course....)

I'll be there too! With a passenger.

Brian H & any other San Diegans: I'm also in San Diego county (Oceanside). Maybe we can meet somewhere and caravan up together. Let me know if you're interested. I've got two FRS radios I'll bring along too.

Cheers,

Brian
