Anyone knows if this is a good choice if I want a camera for the track?

It's been popular, I've seen them at the tracks a few times, perhaps the price point is what makes it appealing.
You might try asking in the Racing/DE forum, since it's been discussed there in the past IIRC.
Lots of expertise on video and data systems in cars in that forum.
