In a couple of weeks I will be taking my 996 on an extended trip through a sunny, warm part of the country. Concerned about the UV effects the sun might have on my black leather dashboard while on the road, I was thinking about getting a dashboard cover.., putting it on during the hot sunny hours and removing it the rest of the time. I have seen dashboard covers on other cars but never on a Porsche.

1. Does anyone have info on or experience with Porsche dashboard covers.
2. Are my fears about possible UV/heat damage to my dashboard unfounded?

Any input will be appreciated.

Get a carpet one. I believe Automotion has them. Many 944 and 928 guys have them as our dashes are extremely prone to cracking.
