I tried to add a pic but the board is configured to limit file sizes.

Nice garage. I have a questions for you guys up north: what in the heck is it about the builders up there not finishing out the garage? Down south, they insulate and put sheet-rock, paint and trim. I'd think they'd do that up there before down here where it's warm. I don't understand. Hell, I'm going to aircondition my next garage as I live in Dallas where hades rules (friggin' heat sucks!).

I think up North that the county/city jacks up the property tax rate if you have an insulated garage.

They consider it "Potential" living space.

The garage on my house is insulated and sheetrocked. This garage is basically just a storage shed. Eventually I plan on insulation, running water heat and AC. Until then it just protects from the elements.

More and more garages are getting finished today than 20 years ago up here. It's just more money.

Up here in Norway insulated garages are more or less a no-no. In winter the snow you bring in with your car will melt and the insulation will kep the moisture inside tha garage and your cars will rust.
I'm building a garage right now and the only kind of insulation I'm using is a diffusion retarder.

A couple pix from our detached "toy store." Had a pit in a garage I shared with my dad back in the '70's and put another one in. Really handy for oil changes and air cooled Porsche maintainance.

SKL,
Where are you located in Iowa? I like your taste with the mix of Porsche and Miata.
