Beck's 904 Replica Prototype in 'Excellence'
i was thrilled to read the article in this month's 'excellence' announcing that chuck beck's 904 replica is now in the prototype form after being in development for many years.
for those who haven't read, this replica will be a big step up from the 550 spyder replicas, which use VW engines and suspension components. the 904 will use air-cooled porsche flat-6 engines in the 3.2 L range mated to 901 trannies equipped with limited-slip diffs. the chassis utilizes a more modern suspension set-up and components designed to accommodate the grip generated by its 8 front and 10 rear tires (compared to the original's 5.5 inchers), yet it still weighs in at under 1750 lbs. the weight/power for the prototype is 6.3 lb/hp! all this will come at a greater target cost of $50,000, and expect the manufacturer (superformance - cobra and daytona coupe replica producer) to equip A/C.
my priorities in life have suddenly changed.
thanks to automobile atlanta for making these photos available.

I like, but I would do without the flared fenders. My preference would be 2.0l 911S motor with megaphones. Maybe even 911 steel wheels enlarged to 6" front and 7" rear to fit 205's and 225's.
