Writer/editor. I write about beer, wine, and spirits for a beverage industry trade publication called The Tasting Panel ... plus a few sideline writing projects and screenplays. Former web-builder during the dotcom boom. I pull in around $70 per year .... not a lot by L.A. standards.

I'd wanted a Porsche since I was 12 and finally scraped together enough to buy a used 996 in very good condition, with Sport Designs, tint, and manual transmission.

Still a hardcore Bimmer fan (and E30 owner), too. I still feel a little "conspicuous" in the P-car. Do I really deserve this car???

I am 39, an Air Traffic Controller, I make 6 figures. First Porsche was a 2000 Boxster, I now have an 2004 C4S and I love it. Will upgrade in a few years, but always a 911.

I love cars and have had them all, Current is a 2000 BMW 323ci Convertable for the wife, a 2007 Chevy Tahoe and I just sold the 04 Harley Davidson Fatboy, hurt my back and could not use it anymore.

Im 15 years old... I know i know... im ready for the flak. i own (cant drive yet) a 77 911S (needs restoration), and 2 74 914's. 1 is a street car (stock) and 1 is a 1 off track car. The 914's are for sale to buy a "company car" (and daily driver for me) for my detailing business. If i had the clientelle to do what i do all year around and also dropped out of high school. working 10 hours a day, 5 days a week i would make about 150k a year. I plan to major in business in college and then detail full time. I would be traveling around the world working for many wealthy people prbably 2 months of the year... and just to give myself credibility i might be flying to the middle east soon to work on a few very nice cars .

My aim for this summer is to make 5k. That doesnt sound like a lot however i mostly only work on higher end cars... and there arent many in my area. Also i charge a good bit... however there are none like me in my area.

Sorry, but that's just silly.

What is this "deserve"? It's not about what you deserve, it's about what you manage to obtain. We do the best we can for ourselves, and so does everyone else.

As the Bard says: "Use every man as he deserves, and who should escape whipping?"

I make rain for a great design firm that operates in a very diverse range of markets. Base salary is excellent, perks include free gas & whatever I want to spend on entertaining - but the frequent bonuses are incredible & keep me pushing - this year could be THE year.... I feel very lucky to be doing what I'm doing right now.

40yo consultant with a background in economics and engineering making a comfortable salary for not living in a big city. Dreamed of owning a Porsche for over 30 years. Got mine just over 10 years ago with under 25K miles: '86 951. Just yesterday found my first dash cracks and the car just reached 60K miles. Not quite making enough to afford all the mods and repairs but I whittle at the list from time to time.
