A bit more info on creating our own forum, from Moderator Robb M:

When you make a group, it can be public, moderated (members must be approved) or invite only. I think public makes sense here. I suggest leaving the thread in general talk, but use it not for discussion, but instead to let people know about the group and how to find it. The group essentially becomes a forum within the broader rennlist forum.

I suggest we take the leap. It’ll still be public, and easy to find for those who are interested. And it’ll allow us to create topic-specific threads which makes it easier find information, or talk about an event without having to scroll through a long thread that has lots of different discussions, and member intros. For example, if there’s a question about tire choice: create a new thread. That way, members interested in tire discussions can click on that thread within PSTOF. Or an event. Or you-name-it. It’ll work just like the larger forum, where you can scroll and click for topics of interest, or click on everything (whatever suits you).

@rwbern as founder, and leader, I’ll wait for your direction.

Looks like the consensus is to go with the forum, so please move forward, with the current sticky staying in place.
Would be great if anyone selecting the current thread was automatically moved to the new forum.
Thanks for your assistance & continued great job with the membership roster.

Not looking for a profit here, just passing along the cost.

A suggestion for the designer might be to have PSTOF and Charter Member slightly curved so that when they inevitably become deformed after they are worn, curved words might look better.
Just a thought

I showed that hat to a friend and his first reaction was that there were already hats for people who were "Pissed Off."

Good point. Ohio would almost certainly turn that down as a vanity plate.
Funny.

I will take #90 if it is still available. I have owned one 911 before, a 996 silver Targa and am about to take ownership of a 2024 silver Carrera.

Cap graphics? Start with this, and add in RENNLIST - SENIORS

(I would add in the text, but lack a photo editor on my home computer)

If anyone would like to add a graphic, please post. This forum, like life, is a team sport.

OK, musing about Porsches and seniors...

My wife and I just returned from the 20th Route 66 Classic in Nevada, organized through 914World (but with a variety of P-cars, up through a 991 and 718 Boxster). But almost all of the drivers dated back to 1950s and 60s models.

We talked about this, and recalled that when we first got into cars and car clubs (before kids), most of the other people were our age. Then when we got into Porsches and PCA, when our kids were young, the other people were still our age--just a little older. Now we go to car events and the people are, you guessed it, still our age. Its like the same age group has been moving through life, but still in love with cars.

That could be a topic in a "Tech" subthread! But I'd rather just changing any logo letters to "Porsche Seniors" or just "PS". The thing is not about the name or hats, but the discussion goals our founder proposed.

bk - never given that much thought, but in reflection, you are correct. A lot of it is the car itself. In the 60’s, the rage was the muscle car, 442, GTO, etc. Very few understood the 356; looks like a bathtub. Many of my peers just laughed at the car. The 911 began to change the attitude. The local Porsche groups were a safe haven and provided events we could really enjoy the cars; autocross & parades to CanAm races, etc. The sticker price always restricted the numbers, but many of us just had to be in that number & sacrificed a lot to be able to turn the key. Fifty years later, that has not changed,
It looks like the younger 911 folks care more about depreciation and resale then the joy of the car on the road. Far too many garage queens and driveway trophies out there. The folks I meet on the summer road trips are generally older 911 drivers; from coast to coast. The youngster I meet at a local pub will usually comment, “Man, you’re putting a lot of miles on the car”! :-( Some will never get it.
While I enjoy spending time with the younger group on occasions, I prefer our senior groups. I could date a 20 year old again, but the problem is it would have to be two at a time so they have someone to talk to.
