Hope I'm not too late to be a charter member! I'm 62 and on my first Porsche, a '23 C4S in Racing Yellow with MT! While my father has been a PCA member for decades, making me an associate member, my car passion was in road racing. In a...Mazda! Spec Miata was my starting point (competed in the SCCA's first ever National race at Phoenix International Raceway -- to date myself). My obsession then morphed into a completely prepped F-Production Miata, which I raced at some of the country's most iconic tracks, including Indianapolis, Road America, COTA, Laguna Seca. In 2019, just after battling cancer, I captured the SCCA's Mid-States F-Production Conference Championship. The next year, Covid and Long Covid ended my racing career. Once I healed enough to get back to some semblance of normalcy, I ordered my first Porsche and have't looked back. The excitement my car generates is a great reward for the travails I've faced the past few years. I still miss wheel-to-wheel racing, but no other street car has brought me as much joy in ownership.

Hi,

Would love to join the group and would like to claim #86 if it’s still available. I’m 65 and bought my first Porsche last year, a Chalk 992 Carrera. Was looking to replace a manual Audi A4 and was looking at a Cayenne. When my son found out, he chewed me out and said “Why TF are you looking at a Caynne?!!?!! Get a sports car!!”. That was the push I needed. Joined PCA a few days after picking up the Carrera and what pleasure it’s been to meet other Porsche enthusiasts. Driving the Carrera always puts a smile on my face and it’s my daily driver. Went from a manual to the PDK and the PDK is amazing, but I really miss a manual so I have a C4 GTS currently in production and will be picking it up in mid June. The GTS is supposed to be the long term daily driver, but pretty sure it’s not going to be the last 911.

I’m 73 next month. First 911 3 weeks ago a 992 CS CAB and I grin every time I see it. Had a 356 when I was 20.

I’ll be 70 in a few days. If “098” is available, do sign me up.

JimT - thanks for the offer. I’ll be at Parade the first few days, staying at the Westin. I won’t be hard to find; the short guy with the Oxy on the shoulder :-) I have been out of the jeans & Birkenstocks one night in the last ten years; blew the dust off the ole tux for my son’s wedding.

I probably should change before Parade, but thinking I will try to wait till I return.

See ya there,
Bob

Well, I finally had the time to respond with my Porsche history as most of us have. First of all, I will turn 78 in May. It's been a great ride car wise as I have owned some great cars.
I began in college owning VWs in lieu of Porsches, which I really wanted but could not afford. I had the VWs tricked out with exhausts, fog lights, stripes, and so forth. But of course they really were VWs underneath. In my junior year I aquired an early 356 Super 90. It was tired for sure and expensive to keep on the road but I loved it and it was the best I could do. A year later I picked up an older 912. It was a nice car but actually not so fast as the 356, although more elegant. A couple years later I made one of those life mistakes we all remember. Right after finishing undergrad a lovely 911T showed up on the local dealer's lot. It was just like new. I had sold my 912 and I visited the 911 many times without buying. What happened was my mating urge was overpowering and I was concerned about beautiful getaway weekends with GFs. The 911 just didn't have enough storage for luggage. I debated it for weeks before finally deciding on a Chevy Camaro Z28. The Z had plenty of storage and really was a nice fast car, but a Porsche it was not. But I never forgot the Porsche urge and often regretted not picking up the 911 T back in the day.
From the Z I went the BMW path, beginning with a 2002 Tii. This was a great little car and had a sports car personality with, you guessed it, storage for luggage. Porsche was still on my mind.
As my career advanced I moved myself up the BMW ladder to a 530, then a 528. These were great cars with plenty of speed and luxurious interiors, but not sports cars. Then I went to 2 Nissan Maximas. Great GT cars and plenty fast. I still own one of them.
But then it was time to return to Porsche with retirement looming. So I shopped the 996s until I found the beautiful 2003 C4S, shown in my Avitar and which I am driving now. A year later I picked up a matching Boxster S for my wife. She loves it and does definitely drive it with some spirit.
Looking back though I do really believe I made a life mistake not buying that 911T. I believe I would still own it today and enjoy it as much today as back in the day. My advise to any colleagues here who are on the fence, buy the Porsche now. You'll never regret it.

Default Steven Fox. 63. I’lll take my house # 122

I learned to drive manual in my best friend’s 914 in 1978 in an empty, 5-acre parking lot off of Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls Ontario (the main tourist area) at 11pm off season. Fell in love with the car and Porsche. When in 2019 I sold my house, bought in 96 for 68k, to move into my childhood, since October 1968, home to give Mom full time care, I bought, for 67k, May 1, 2020, a 2013 991.1, C2 white over black, 7MT, sport chrono, 14 way, Bose,20” S wheels, pano roof which I love.
Would have liked PDLS, but didn’t want more power, turbo, PASM, etc. Bought used. I love sport and sport + modes. I wanted ability to use wider range of gears and revs at street legal (ish) speeds. Terribly fun in reverse or 2mph or mountains. Solid on track.

Watkins Glen Inner Loop

Watkins Glen exit of Turn 3

Vermont

Side yard of childhood and current home, #122

Fort Niagara looking West. Only US location that was governed by 4 countries—Iroquois Nation , France, Britain, US. Key battleground in French and Indian War, War of 1812, and a WW ll prisoner of war camp for Germans. Also home to Star Spangled Banner sized and aged US flag. Looted by British and returned in the 1990s.

Mom and I. First ride after delivery. Mom, who loved rides, and looking at it, would have driven it if she were younger and had the leg strength.“It’s sculpture,” and she was always reassuring it—when we used her car, she would pet Porsche’s butt and say, “Don’t feel bad, we’ll take you out soon.”

Don’t tell me that not all seats are useable. I fit in the back!

Serial Porsche owner here from Scotland.

Turned 70 earlier this year and I keep asking myself: "How did that happen....?"

If it's allowed, may I please request #101?

Our current garage includes 911 Dakar (Daily), 991.2 GT2 RS, 911 3.2 Carrera Clubsport, Macan GTS and Cayenne Turbo GT. Previous Porsches include various Macans, Cayennes and Panameras. My first Porsche was and is the oldest in the stable and I still use her regularly when the weather is suitable including at the track - the 1988 911 Clubsport. She is the one P car I will never sell and always brings a big smile when I take her for a drive; so involving to drive and you don't have to be going fast to have fun.

Which would you choose.....?

My Porsche journey:
2013 Boxster at 50, I'm 6'4", so never really fit in it well, but loved it.
Have been dreaming of a 911 since I was about 16, so realized it's now or never!
I learned how to drive a stick on an early 80's 911SC, My dad owned a leasing company in the 70s and 80s, and he would bring home the most amazing cars after they came off lease.
He once brought home a 930 turbo, and took me for a crazy joyride around our little suburban NY neighborhood.

Hi @Snufkin and @SSFox - Charter members are 001 through 100. Are you certain you want the requested number above 100?
Right now numbers 084, 089, 090, 092, 093, 094 and 095 remain unassigned.

Boom! PSTOF is stuck! The first Admin sticky on the General Discussion Forum.

Much appreciation to the Admin and needmoregarage for making this happen. The members here have a lot of Porsche miles under there butts & are deserving of this group recognition in my opinion. They have been instrumental in laying the foundation of Porsche. From our 356 days to the current 992, it is quite a history that will be shared on this forum.

To rwbern and all PSTOF members:

Robb M (Rennlist Admin/IB Staff) offered an idea for PSTOF consideration: to become a private social group on Rennlist (RL). It might be a perfect opportunity to create and grow a social group. Social groups are a little known/used feature that basically enable community members to create a private forum section within Rennlist that’s dedicated to a small group of folks with a singular common interest. It‘s a private space for people to connect and share.

Robb explained that one of the biggest advantages is that within our private forum section, new threads on specific topics could be created. It keeps discussions easier to follow when someone is asking a question. A couple items have already popped up that would make excellent “separate” threads: the discussion of the upcoming Parade, and the question on which tires do members recommend. Rather than have to “wade” through this very long thread with member intros, a new thread could be started discussing tires, and yet another thread discussing plans to attend Parade, or Palooza, or fill-in-the-blank.

If we want to create this private social group, Robb suggests creating a sticky and maybe adding some language in the new member forum/messaging to let folks know it exists. That way we continue to have visibility and people with interest can still easily find us to join.

Basically - rather than have one thread that will continue to grow (hopefully), we’ll have a dedicated forum where we can create threads for specific topics/questions/discussions.

I can work with Robb to make it happen if rwbern and our group approve. If we had our own sub-forum I’d be creating a new thread to ask this question!

Looking forward to hearing what PSTOF members have to say.
