Driver makes a mistake: Porsche tries to drive into the Beursplein bicycle shed
A remarkable image, Tuesday at the Beursplein. The driver of a gray Porsche thought he had found a parking garage, but almost drove into a bicycle shed via the steps.
The driver may have tried to park in the Q parking garage at the Bijenkorf, which is also located on Beursplein. Parking was successful, but only halfway up the stairs of the bicycle shed.
Images of the miss are shared on social media. It shows that the steering wheel of the Porsche is on the right side.
It is not known how the car rolled down the stairs again. According to a spokesperson, the fire brigade was not involved in any case.
It is not known why the driver tried to drive into the bicycle shed. Near the entrance to the bicycle shed is the entrance to the Q-Park De Bijenkorf parking garage. The driver may have wanted to park the vehicle there.
Bo Coopmans had just picked up her bicycle when the car tried to drive into the garage: "Everyone grabbed their phone and started filming. People also started shouting. I think the car had a Polish license plate, so I think the driver didn't know it was a bicycle shed," she tells AT5.
"The driver drove backwards very slowly. Then he hit a piece of the wall and a post. All in all, the car was back on the street within fifteen minutes."
With a photo that a bystander places on X, people react to the incident: "First 24 hours free?", someone jokes. “Money too much, brains too little,” notes another.
The police have not received any reports about the incident.
