It is still there. The constant thread movements which is now occurring in every forum just shows how much Porsche is threatened by the C8.
...and in protest, I'm just going to leave this right here.....
In fact, I'm such a free speech fanatic, I want to add this pic to my signature block so RL can see it every day. Let the market decide.

Corvettes are always great bang for the buck. This one will be no different. They will make 30-40 thousand of them every year and they will be great $25K weekend track cars when they are three years old.
Why not?
Why not?

Why don't you buy the C8 instead of your 992 GT3 - don't be bashful, best foot forward and all that
Tell me what does the C8 deliver that you can't get right now? The word you'll reach for is relatively "cheap" and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Everything else has already been done to a much higher standard and level of performance in the land of the mid - engined sports car.
And lets not forget this is a large heavy car e.g. close to 3700 lbs, that is more than 500 lbs heavier than the real weight of my fully fuelled 720S and more than 400lbs heavier than my RS and weight nearly always destroys the feel of performance cars.
If you want genuine track type performance you will have to start ticking all sorts of options boxes - just did this for the C7 Z06 and the price came out at $114,000k - to allow it to be track capable (did the same for the ZR1 and it came in at 143K). Do you think it will be any different for the C8 - the release video actually talks about upgrade packages for track work.
Therefore why would you expect it to be different for the C8?
Also, heres something else to think about. I own one performance car with ~700HP, 2 with ~500HP and one with 335HP - which is the most useable in all senses of the word? answer the one with 335HP (981 GTS). Its interesting to reflect that both Mitsubishi and Subaru concluded ~ 300HP was a sweet spot and Walter Rohrl felt it was between 300HP and 350HP e.g. there is a little point to HP if you cant use it
And in addition A few more points - my 720S is has ridiculous performance levels - but that is not why I bought it in the end - it is a truly amazing looking car and from the inside it is a great space to look out from and very unique.
Likewise the II 3RS, as I have come to know and understand the car, you recognise it has an amazing organic feel, along with noise and poise across the board - again very unique. Uniqueness is a intangible quality - but it certainly has value to those that appreciate difference and that can be worth paying for.

^groundhog...excellent post
My 2016RS hit 20k miles this week. I have been lucky to own alot of P and F cars over the last couple of decades.
The 991GT3RS may be my favorite car I have ever owned. I call it my split personality beast. You can cruise around like your driving a base carrera or hit exhaust button(I have GMG exhaust) and the car is a screamer. For me there is not a car that moves me like a 911GT. The carbon buckets, 500hp NA, PCCB, and a suspension that is simply amazing. I also agree coming from a 991 turbo S that I put 28k miles on there is no need for more than 500hp.
I remember my dads first MB 300e circa 1986 had 177hp and i thought that was fast.
