V8 911s - Sacrilege or Brilliant?

Is swapping a V8 into a 911 blasphemy? Here are some of the pros and cons of this controversial modification. You might be surprised.

I have three 911’s now. I wouldn’t do this swap to any of the three. I do think modifying a perfectly good 911 would be heresy.

For me it would have to be a completely separate project. If I had time on my hands and money I knew I would never recover, I would find a 996 with a blown engine. Then I’d put in a BMW e39 M5 engine, assuming it would fit, not a LS3. Put the whole thing on a diet with a goal of less than 3000 lbs and it would be interesting. I love the torque and individual throttle bodies in the S62 engine. You’d get the V8 sound and it would still be a German sports car if that’s important to you.
