Default Porsche Track Experience - Barber Motorsports - Alabama l

Hello,

Can anyone tell me about their experience at Barber Motorsports? This looks like a more genuine opportunity to push our vehicles to the limit on a true race course.

Found information under track experience

TLDR: I can’t recommend it highly enough!

I was recently there for the 6th time. I have a good friend who has been over 25 (I’m pretty sure he’s lost count). In a word, it’s amazing.

The track is fun, technical and beautiful. The staff are great - all instructors have significant racing and coaching experience. I think all programs are a combination of track time and off-track exercises (autocross, skidpad and some sort of braking / cornering exercise to help you get the feel of threshold braking, trail braking, weight transfer, etc). For the beginner 1 or 2-day course, track time is all lead-follow. The Masters and up courses usually have a single session of lead-follow and then open lapping with instructor debrief at the end of the session (instructors stationed at various points on the track). Masters RS introduces telemetry review.

When I was there a couple weeks ago, I think all the track cars were either 992 GTS coupes, Cayman GTS or Turbo S. Exercise cars vary between 992, Taycan, Panamera, Boxster GTS. All are basically new and perfect.

I realize that going multiple times brings up the question, “why not just buy a track car and club race or DE?” For me (and certainly my fortunate friend) it’s about time and ease. I know I can show up in Birmingham and have fun / get better / swap cars if something goes wrong with what I’m driving.

Thank you for the input, have my fingers crossed that I will have the opportunity to go. I hope to be going sometime in May. It sounds like an amazing experience.

On my “to do” list because multiple of my instructors have done it (several times each) and all had nothing but praise for it. Relative bargain for what you get.

IT is far and away the best Porsche Bang for your Buck experience in the world! I have gone twice now, 2-day performance class and then the 2-day Masters Class... Hope to get into a Masters RS class this summer. The instruction, and the amount of personalized track time that you get, not to mention the fact that you are pushing the latest and greatest porsches to their limits on one of the best tracks is unbeatable. The hotel is very nice and they do a great job scheduling the day and getting you back and forth. The instructors there are wonderful people and you will not regret it! I walked away from both courses learning an incredible amount and feeling far more confident in my racing ability.

Thank you all for the tremendous responses, I will be going in May ! I have been fortunate to have been to BMW driving school but this seems far and away a much greater opportunity. I look forward to sharing my experience!

You will have a blast and learn a ton! I've been twice, and documented my experiences both times with photos on my blog:
