Default ED delay and “foil” availability issues?

Rumor mill. Has anyone heard of “foil” (factory PPF) availability causing delays in Euro Delivery (or U.S. delivery for that matter)? I checked off PPF for my ED with my Carrera to avoid paint damage on the euro roads. Thanks

Yes, can add approximately 4 weeks to production.

No, from what I know Schwabenfoil was Porsche's preferred installer, a few years ago they did not renew the contract due to cost, so Porsche brought it in house. It's precut XPEL PPF.

Good info Cos. So there must be a supply chain or installer shortage issue for the XPEL, I imagine.

Don't mean to go off topic, but if it isn't too late to cancel the factory film, there is another option. I took one 12" and one 4" roll of XPEL Track Wrap with me and did a quick application in the factory parking lot. It looked like absolute hell but it worked perfectly for 2 weeks and 730 miles. When I took the track wrap off just prior to drop off, the car was pristine underneath with the added benefit that nearly all of the bugs came off with the wrap. It took a little over an hour to apply and less than 30 minutes to remove.

JAM, not off-topic at all! I followed your thread on your wonderful exploits in your new GT 3! I asked Joey if I were able to delete my requirement for PPF and was told that probably could not happen. But in the meantime my PPF was completed and now I am CP8.0 and on track for delivery in October. Thanks for chiming in. It looks like you had a terrific time on your euro delivery!
