Default ED duration and time of day?

ED for Porsche is new to me and I apologize if this has been discussed. Typically how long does the entire Delivery take from the time you walk onto the premises and the time you drive off the premises? And what time of day does the process usually occupy? If it matters, I'm picking up at the Leipzig location. I'd love to see your schedules if you have any to share!

I've never done one before. But will be doing one in a couple months.

I was told to allocate 5 hours (presume that includes factory tour if it returns). Mine starts at 8 am.

Thanks! I was told by PCNA that the factory tour at Leipzig is open but the Zuffenhausen factory tour is not at this time.

I'm Zuffenhausen. Hoping by late June it'll be open again.

Joey told me earlier this week that all N. American customers (U.S. and Canada) have 0830 starts for ED.

I was given 0800 but would accept 0830!

I did a ED in Leipzig in 2017, the whole process takes about 5 hours. A shuttle will pick you up at the hotel, in my case it was 9:30 am.

I arrived at Porsche Centre Leipzig at 10:00 am and settled in for about 30 mins.

Factory Tour: They do these in small groups, which is nice and you can ask lots of questions, warning, they don't allow photos of the assembly areas for proprietary reasons. The factory tour that lasted about for about 1 hour.

Lunch: Then it was a beautiful lunch in the "UFO" building that overlooks the track, after lunch, it was off to the track. I was careful not to drink any wine at lunch even though it was offered!

Track Time: The track event is in a car similarly spec'd, and lasted about 30 mins. The instructor does about 2 or 3 laps, then we switched and I think I got about 10-15 laps in. After that, you can do the off-road track, which I declined and decided to relax in the customer area.

Delivery: Then it was delivery time, the most exciting part where they take you into individual garage bays to see your new baby! They spend about 30-60 mins going through all the features and instructions of use and put in a portable GPS, the Porsche Nav is not set-up for German roads, hence the reason for the portable GPS. Then I drove my car to the front, where you can take pictures in front of the UFO building.

I recall leaving at around 3 pm, but they said I could hang out for longer if I desired. I perused through the gift shop and then headed off back to the hotel with a huge grin on my face!

I did Euro delivery (in Leipzig) in November 2021 for a 911 GT3 and the schedule was exactly the same as described above although the off road option wasn’t offered.

And I left with that same giant smile!

I actually also did ED at Leipzig in 2017 for a 911 GTS. That time I DID do the off road track and I thought it was pretty cool. I’m not an off road guy but they have some pretty surprising features!

Thanks for the info! Was the portable GPS unit complimentary? My paperwork did offer it but didn't say the cost...and I think I read someone on RL had to pay something like 250 euros?

If my memory serves me, it was complimentary. I did have to pay for postage to mail it back to Leipzig as I was dropping at a remote location.

We are planning to do phones but I was thinking the GPS unit as a backup in case the phone data didn't work for whatever stupid reason.

True!

Maps still available? I see Harry Metcalfe using them. But of course they aren't detailed.
