Default Settling for car

I'll be taking delivery of our 911 in early April in Leipzig and the dealer has asked for us to settle for the car in full as well as provide a check to cover the VAT on the car prior to our trip.. Have others who have done ED recently been asked to pay for the car in advance of their trip?

It's usual to pay for the car in full 2-4 weeks before your delivery date. Heck, I was leasing and my first lease payment was 30 days prior to delivery. PCNA will ask your dealer to ask you for a check for the VAT. My dealer simply held the check, and returned to me the day I picked up the car here in the USA. I told the dealer he could try to cash it, but it was going to bounce. What you've described is part of the "ED Dance" that Porsche puts its customers through. None of the othe German makes put the customer thru this bs.

Normal. I have done 2 EDs in the past four years. I didn't have to pay the VAT deposit. Some dealers ask for it up front, others do not.

Thanks for the feedback. Another question -did you get your own insurance prior to taking delivery in the US for the car? A little uneasy paying for the car and not having any insurance while it is in transit.

Until the car is delivered to you by your dealer, its insured by PAG/PCNA and their contracted carriers. Its no different than just purchasing a car and picking it up at he dealership.

Hi - you’ll want to go to the Water Cooled 911 thread section for your question to have more people see it. This is the General Discussion thread for European Delivery.

I personally don’t think it’s too far!
