Default Chesapeake PCA DIY Brake Tech Session in Baltimore, Dec. 13

On Saturday, December 13 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM, the Chesapeake Region of PCA will sponsor a DIY Tech Session that will concentrate on brake work, especially if you track your car. The session will be held at GT Performance and hosted by Gennady Soykher. It is open to members and non-members.

Always wanted to bleed/flush your brakes? We'll do it on Saturday. Do you have a new set of rotors that you've been eager to swap for your old, pringled, cracking ones? This is the time to see how it's done. Have you been afraid to buy race pads because you didn't know how to swap them back and forth for street pads? Well, learn how to change 'em and you'll be slapping your new Hawk Blues in and out like a pro and be left with one less excuse as to why you couldn't outbrake that 912 in your 996.

We will try and accommodate other minor, non-brake maintenance items. Please RSVP me at mleephoto1 at aol.com if 1) you plan on coming; and 2) you want to be placed on the list to have your car worked on (PCA members only). The session is only four hours, so space will be limited, as will the type of work that can be accomplished ie. no clutch jobs, engine swaps, etc. We'll try and keep the work to items of general interest. Sorry, sourcing out vacuum leaks will most likely have everyone snoring.

Gennady also has a cool stable of race cars, some customer cars, some his own, that he has in his shop. Come check them out, rap with other Porsche crazies and have some coffee, bagels and other snacks while we take apart a few cars.

It's only twelve more days before the DIY and we have a brake flud and pad change scheduled, as well as a rotor change. We may be able to squeeze one more minor brake issue in. Email me if you're interested.

See you on Saturday!

Mark I have a question about joining the pca. When is it a good time to join? Should I wait until next year or can I join now?

Good question. I think the membership expires a year after you join, so that means you can join at any time. Try going to pca.org and look for the national number so you can give them a call.

Will you and your dad be coming to the DIY?

Okay, it looks like our itinerary is all set for our DIY day.

We currently have a 1) a brake fluid flush and pad change; 2) rotors, pads, and sensors to be replaced on a Boxster; and 3) a leakdown on a 911 in the four hours for the event.

Thank you to everyone for your interest, but we have to close the schedule. If you want to have your car worked on, email me, and I'll put you on a wait list in case someone drops out or can't get parts in time.

See you then!

Exact number of attendees is unknown since I only have had about seven people confirm, but I don't think that means anything. I would guess we would have about 25-45 people.

Thats a good number of people. Do you know if the DIY thing is at Cignatta's? If not, after everything with the brakes is over, everyone should stop by there because they have a few porsches, ferraris, and rolls royces for sale as well as about 10 944's they work on behind the shop. It's a pretty cool place and its also in Edgewood.

LG - nothing against Cignatta's but, no, the DIY is definitely not at at that shop. Check out the first post for directions and other pertinent info.

It looks like we're expecting a good turnout for this session. Again, thank you to everyone who expressed an interest in getting their cars worked on. As it stands, we will be doing the three procedures detailed in one of the aformentioned posts.

See you on Saturday!

I checked Chesapeake's site but didn't see any photos. Don't know if someone will post, although someone was shooting.

Thanks for coming out! See you at the next PCA meeting or at the next Rennlist drive.
