Default Washington DC area shops?

Hey guys,

wondering where you would recommend I take the cars for tech inspections, mod installations, maybe even a roll bar installation?

I used to use Funktion Auto in Dulles and At Speed up in Laurel.

Not sure if there are better places to go.

Thanks

Jeff

FWIW, no shop has a perfect story history. They all employee humans. But the ones that I'm aware of that are worth looking into (in addition to the 2 you already mentioned). None are in DC proper, but do cover all the surrounding suburbs:

Intersport
Stuttgart Performance
ASG
Chapman Autowerks
SSI
TPC Performance
RPM
Autotherapy
TAG Motorwerks

For my other cars, I used to go to Funktion Auto. Then RRT. Now that I have a pcar, I wanted a shop that specialized in them so I'm using IMA in Chantilly. Ivan is a good guy.

Thanks I'll look into IMA. I used to do RRT a lot for my M3s as well.

But i now want someone who's familiar with 991s. I'm probably going to do a roll bar first.

If you're looking for a roll bar, you want Mitch Piper in Leesburg: http://www.pipermotorsport.com/

Ivan IMA +1
They also sub contracted my roll cage with a local guy and I tested it twice. Worked well.

What do people think of Intersport? They are relatively convenient for me.

I've used At Speed and IMA, and both are good. Obviously At Speed is easier to get to from Laurel.

I can second this. If you are looking for a proper race roll bar/cage, Piper has been the place to go for years.
