NE Porsche Meet - Aug. 1st 2004

Michelle did an amazing job organizing this event. It was very impressive to get such a turnout with drizzle to start the day. I think almost 40 cars showed up. The meet was broken into 3 groups with the 996tts in the fastest group. Group 2 was moderate aggressive. I was in this group as I was warned not to go too nuts on the 1st time. Our group consisted of a boxster S being the lead guy followed by some 993's, a supercharged 993, George's turbo cab, Ricardo's 968 cab and myself followed by a 996tt.
Once we started, it was a 2 lane winding road for approx 10 mins. The 1st chance I had, I pulled over and passed Ricardo with ease, next up was a boxster S, piece of cake!. Next was another vehicle and then George's car. George was a sitting duck. He tried but realized my car was quite a bit faster. That was the best moment for me. To top things off I got him one more time getting on the entrance ramp on an interstate. This time it was even easier. I picked a total of atleast 10-12 cars. I recieved a lot of compliments by the other members of the group. I was ahead of everyone by the end. the conversation with george was funny:
Me: That was fun! were you ON it?
George: Yeah, but I was in 5th gear. What gear were you in?
Me: I have no clue, I was just looking at the tach. George, get on with your game!
Another member: Thats just an excuse George!
Me: George, even if I was in a lower gear, my turbo S trans's 4th is same as your 5th, so no excuse
George:
The nicest thing for my car was when I pulled into the parking lot at the begining. Everyone turned over to look and I mean guys with $150K cars with tons of mods and looking just as fast.
regards.

Just got back from the Meet at High Point ( Hawk's Nest, NJ ), what a great day it turn out to be. Even though it rained in the morning and all the cars that wear polished to perfection evening before turned dirty and gray, nevertheless, the day was a ball of fun.
Thanks to Michele (Porsche Babe) from Cargraphic and all other organizers made the day just great! The 40 or so miles of really curvy roads tasted every-once driving skills and nerves. The speeds ranged from 0-mph especially when cops intervened at one of the local towns to near or over 170-mph at open stretch roads.
Again, thanks Michele, and lets do it again soon! I will bring coffee and donuts next time around. I enclose some photos, not the best quality but it is hard to snap them when driving.

Nice pics goose! Hey Michele, great job of putting this event together. My son and I enjoyed the ride and the company. You gave good advice to everyone and kept (most) of us out of trouble. I think an October event when the leaves turn should be the next organized drive in the NE.
