Considering joining some Metro PCA autocross events with my Panamera GTS. So of course my first thought is helmet.

Any recommendations on retail shops nearby? Preferably near Queens, NY or out towards LI instead of going into NJ.

Or do you all just measure your heads and buy online?

I ordered online, but next time I'll go to that big shop in NJ. I forget the name. I don't know of anything on LI

Good point. But I think they have higher end helmets. But certainly good idea. I love patronizing them, save the local speed shop!

Stable Energies in Garfield is the place to go for all things track/autoX for in-person shopping. Helmets fit differently among brands depending on your head shape, so ordering by mail is hit or miss even if you measure accurately.

Their website has a section for Helmets but nothing listed, should I be worried about that? I wanted to get a sense of what stock they might keep before going in person.

Actually not too far of a drive for me, I'll keep this in mind if I end up on that side of the river for something else. I was actually in Nutley today for a family thing, but I guess I couldn't have dragged everyone with me anyway lol.

Wound up getting a Bell M8 helmet from Stable Energies today. Shop looks great and they were really helpful.

FYI for anyone else that reads this, you're supposed to make an appointment for helmet fitting now since its the busy season. They were nice enough to help me out so I didnt waste the drive out there.
