It hit 75 degrees on Sunday, March 1, and it was time for an afternoon ride through the lower GA mountains with my wife. We went up 129 to 52 to Long Branch/Copper mines, then Cavender Creek to Porter Springs, then 9 to 60, and on to Wolf Pen Gap (WPG). This was my first trip to WPG. Be advised that the restrooms at the WPG Country Store are out of order. Also, the northern leg of WPG Rd features a short single-lane section just before the hairpin section. It was about a five-minute wait. Traffic was oddly quite light; that wait will be more aggravating when the road is heavily traversed. <img src=" class="post_inline_image" loading="lazy" />

North on 19, right on 180, then south down 384 (Russell Scenic Highway) through Hog Pen Gap was another very light-traffic, pleasant drive. We came south down 75A to the Cleveland loop, and this time I paid attention and caught 115 back west back to 19/400 south. 3.5 hours total, so a great short drive if you're out of north ATL.

Besides being good etiquette, it’s advisable to slow down around the larger pull offs. Had a FOOL pull his SUV out right in front of me on 384. If I had been going much over the speed limit, I’d have t-boned him. Idiots abound; stay safe on your rides.

All that txt and no pics?! Sounds like a fun route.

Here's a winter run up to Highlands and around Lake Burton. LaPrade's Marina is a great stop anytime of the year.

LOL, the only pic I took was when I got home before I washed it.... However...I was running video.

When it comes to fun, well, this short VIDEO should cover that! (This is my first Dropbox post, please let me know if any issues.) I knew a larger pull-off was up ahead so I was backing down, which turned out to be fortuitous! There were a couple of curves (cough) coming up.

Great pic and looks like you weren’t the only one having fun out there! Those bike guys are insane.

Late notice but a few of us are meeting on 400 somewhere around where 369 intersects.
My buddy has to pick up his car at some warehouse near there.
Should in the area around 8-8:15AM

There should be Porsche's, My buddy in a Golf R, and I've decided to take my S2K tmrw. for some top down time.
Will be headed up to NC near the Highlands I think and back to the ATL area by 4pm or so.

Send me a PM if interested in meeting.. give your cell and I'll text you address when I know it.
