Default AIM Smartycam power problems...

So my older stand alone Smartycam keeps running the battery down even though it is connected to the power supply using the 7 pin power supply cable...Red to power, black to ground...Sent the camera back to AIM Roanoke...camera checks out perfectly...Any idea ?

Open (more likely shorted) diode in the power cable? Did you send the cable in?

The camera turns on with external power but when power is lifted, it bleeds back and drains the internal battery.

If they charged it and let it sit unconnected (or used a good cable), it would check out good.

Runs the AiM camera battery down or car battery?

Camera battery...I did not think to send the cable to AIM...AIM said the camera checks out just fine, no problems at all.

That's the next thing to check. Had issues a long time ago with this.

I have to give Big Thumbs Up to Zach at AIM Roanoke...He called me this morning and said he thought about a few things over the weekend and decided to look a little deeper...Turns out my camera had a problem that he initially had not detected and he is sending it back to Italy for a deeper review...In the meantime he is sending me an identical camera to replace the one going back to Italy. Great service !
