Default Aim SoloDL mounting position

Dash left
- out of the way
- easy to reach with harness/hans
- some error due to non-center position (material?)?

Dash center
- harder to reach
- in visual field
- better GPS coverage and reduced errors due to off center location.

Thought?

I had mine on a RAM mount stuck to the windshield just to the left of and above the steering wheel rim 11 o'clock ish. This is fairly easy to find visually without really looking away from what you are supposed to look at while being out of the way mostly...and relatively easy to run the cabling to if you have CAN/camera connections to worry about.

Perhaps I'm unusual but being in reach was never a significant consideration for me -- I didn't EVER adjust it once I started moving...I really didn't want to shift focus or a hand for long enough to mess with the little buttons.

Oh and I did not experience any GPS drop-out issues with the DL mounted low left like that.

Between 90-95% of the installations I have done/seen are low and to the left inside the windshield and above the dash. Either a Suction cup or a V-mount clamp on that downtube.

Key is having it high enough to see out of the corner of your eye (for plus/minus) but but not so high your vision is occluded towards that corner of the car.

I just rode in the passenger seat of my truck moving the DL around as we drive. The right side corner had slightly better GPS reception than the middle.

In the pic above, is any one aware if those cables run back up and down to the fuse box area by the A-pillar or via another route?

Tucked behind the weatherstripping down to the fuse box.

Yup, I see that possibility on my car. Seems like it won't get compressed too hard in that weatherstripping.

There's also a plastic cover panel on the left side/end of the dash adjacent to the light control that seems like it might be easily removable and leads to above the fuse panel carpet and behind the dash. Would be easy to get the wires into there and down to the fuse panel if it's easily removable.
