I ran AiM in the SPB, I am almost certain we ran CAN to it successfully. We even made a kit for it. I will have to check my notes for what we did. The AIM ECU comparability charts say it doesn't work but I am pretty sure we had it working.

Ok quick answer is NO we didn't use CAN. We used AIM 0-5v sensors for oil temp and pressure, we tapped RPM off the ECU, we tapped brake on/off at the switch, and used GPS for speed. We tapped water temp, and TPS as well. I think all those where tapped with various wires at the ECU, but not using CAN. PM me if you are curious and I will look for a dash config.

So, you used a logger that could accept a conventional RPM signal and analog inputs, correct? An MXL? An EVO4?
I've been supplying either the MXL (and now the MXL2) or an EVO4 for all SPB cars.
For the 2002 and on F Stock Boxsters, I use the Bosch 996 protocol with good results.

The issue is the age of the car. Chris Brown, perhaps then best protocol writer MoTeC has ever had, spent the time to make this work on the old cars. Whether that is helpful in making the decision to purchase the newly discounted CDL3 display/logged or perhaps even the very powerful and full featured color display loggers like the C125, that is for you to decide. This is great information and helps people make a decision on which direction they want to go. The AiM Solo DL, for $699, will not log anything at a useful rate from the '98-'01 Boxster or early 996 Cup. You'll need an AiM solution that accepts analog inputs, as any of the MoTeC products do. The difference is fewer analog sensors are required if you use this protocol with a MoTeC device.

Yep. And I know better than to ask AIM to write a CAN driver for the Bosch 5.2. Lol. But I'll be able to make do with the 4 analog + RPM and OBD (water temp) on the MXS for now. It would have just been a "nice to have."

If you know the CAN details, I can write it for you. I would just need all the info as I don't have a sniffer.

Well son of a .... I've been told for years this was not possible ('99 996 C2)
Have been pulling RPM off the OBD port.
Having the wheel speed and throttle position would be great.
What is the resolution of the signals coming of the bus?
