Is the OS X version of Circuit Tools the recommended platform if you have the option or is this one feature the only difference?

The interface is different enough that I feel you need to play with both. Right now, the Export function is one of the few things that the OS X version does that the Windows version does not.

Power users will want to use Windows. More panes, more options, friction circle visualization and a few other good ways to show more than two laps side by side are benefits.

More casual users, and users comfortable with Apple interface, often gravitate toward the OS X version or now, I have a fair number of users (including myself in review in the motorcoach on the big screen using AirPlay are) beginning to use the iOS app.

I can find what I need to help someone go quicker in each version easily...

Yes, I believe so. All backwards compatible with the hardware.

Because of restrictions on how iOS devices protect file access, you will need one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Canvi.../dp/B00JNBVK4M

I had a customer that tried the RAVPower unit Racelogic also recommends and we never got it to work. I bought the Toshiba and it worked right away. Bought a big iPad Pro to use it with and it's pretty impressive. Speedy, too.

Connect your iOS device to the Canvio as a wireless AP, open Circuit Tools 2 iOS app and it will lead you right to the media directory of the SD card you've inserted in the Canvio AeroMobile.

Then, you can select the file (a preview is shown on the bottom half of the screen) and look at laps, look at splits and do side by side with measures. Awesome for use in the field!

Good. My customer was not as savvy as you so it may have been operator error for him!

Were the tips for exporting single laps in VLC ever shared? Im sure they would be helpful to a lot of people. Maybe worth their own thread?

Yep. Gotta get through Watkins Glen. Before HSR Road Atlanta is the goal. Not hard, just screenies to accompany the verbiage... Takes seconds to get the clip. Awesome!

So I'm curious to know how to do it in seconds...

The method I figured out requires playing the file back at real time speed and recording the playback as you watch. Enable advanced controls, seek to start point, click record and play buttons as close to same time as you can, hit record button again when you are done. This kicks out a file in the "my videos" folder (Windows obviously) with the clip from the larger file.

Obviously it took a couple of minutes to make that watching through the lap at real time speed. Guess I need Peter's coaching to go faster on making clips as well!!

[p.s. the sound is terrible, I know. I definitely need to work on mic placement to get the wind noise to get out of the way.]

FYI, looks like the IOS CT is data only with the Vbox lite. The lite encodes video in .AVI and the app only reads MP4. All of the other VBox's encode to MP4. Still looking forward to playing with it though.

Works with the first iteration, now discontinued, the VBOX HD, which I used last weekend and works fine with HD2 file comparison on iOS. Think one of those is for sale on RL.

I feel compelled to at least get my Lite fully installed and operational before I upgrade it.....Unless it's a really good deal of course, LOL.
