Suggestions for reducing windshield reflections?
I've got a Vbox HD2 camera mounted high on the inside of my car's windshield, pointing forward. I've noticed that I'm getting a lot of reflections from the windshield, even though the camera is mounted quite close to the glass:
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to avoid this? I've got some ideas - namely, building a cone-shaped hood that would fit around the front of the camera and press against the glass - but I'm wondering what other people have tried.
Thanks.

I lay a matte covering over the dash.

Polaroid film filter over the camera lens?

I'd look for an adjustable polarizing filter for the camera lens that you can rotate until the dash reflection is filtered out.

Maybe something like this - would need some modding...3d printer maybe?

Yeah, that's the ticket!
I looked around a bit, and there are various CPL filters of many shapes and sizes. I asked Racelogic Support if a CPL filter will work with the camera - I don't see why it won't though.

I tried this CPL:

Unfortunately, it didn't work: the Vbox lens is so wide angle that the edges of the CPL show up in the frame. I'm going to try a bigger CPL. The upside is that a bigger CPL might actually be easier to mount to the camera.

Of course, I could just go buy a piece of black felt to cut down on the reflections but what would the fun of that be?

Fast forward to April 2024 and I’m dealing with the EXACT same issue. Did anyone find a solution? I’m wondering if anyone has a success story and willing to share their details. Or know of an “out of the box” solution. My car is currently in the shop, but when I get it back I’m going to see if the garmin catalyst polarization filter will fit without any modifications. Meanwhile, I thought I’d ask if any is aware of any “cut and paste” solutions.
any suggestions?
