Default No OBDI data in SmartyCam recording

Greetings from Buttonwilllow,

I am using my new AIM Solo DL + SmartyCam for the first time
The SmartyCam works but I see no OBDII data in the video

I am using the default Porsche dashboard.

Anyone has any pointers?

You have to setup the smartycam feeds in Rs2 through the Smartycam button on the top right of the setup screen. Then you have to setup the smartycam in smartymanager2 to display the right things.

Cool, thanks
Now it looks like the OBDII channels in my 99 don't line up with the OBDII default channels in RS2
Is there a config file somewhere?

Thanks

Ok, on your 99 (which I assume is a spec Miata or Spec Boxster), you will use a configuration file in RS2 for the generic OBD-II profile, ISO 9141/2.

This combination doesn't work very well with the 99 because the information transmitted is so slow that the RPM data is very jerky on the strip chart. Cars post-2002 are much better.

You'll connect the K-line input for the Solo DL to the car's OBD-II port with the supplied plug.

Open RS2, select Device Configuration, then Solo DL, then Go to.

Under configuration manager, select new configuration and from the drop down menus, select ECU Make: OBDII and ECU Model: ISO9141/2. Then, select the SmartyCam Channels dialog box from the radio button above and use TPS for throttle position, RPM, ECT (engine coolant temperature) and that's about all you can get out of an early car. Select Transmit to send this config to the Solo DL.

Then, connect the camera to the laptop and open smartymanager 2.

Select the Porsche dashboard and make sure the RPM is in the right range, that the throttle bar is TPS, and that is about it. Transmit and that's it.

Sorry! I should have looked at the sig line.

Following the information in this publication for connection to your car: http://www.aim-sportline.com/downloa...ns_105_eng.pdf

Using the ECU Make: Porsche and ECU Model: 997_987_MK2_OBDII

BRAKE_PRESS should show up as a listed channel for output from the Solo DL. IF IT DOESN'T, check the box on the lower left side of the SmartyCam channel setup dialog box that says "Enable All Channels." This may allow you to manually select that channel from the drop down selections. This is on the Solo DL side.

On the camera setup, default is brake position. You want brake pressure and I would for now, set the max pressure to 700. Save the config in SM2 and go.

Transmit both and that should do it.

Thanks for all the help you guys.
The last missing thing is that the track-map didn't appear in my recordings, but that was hopefully fixed by loading the tracks to the SmartyCam via SmartyManager

I am usually really good at reading manuals and doing all that stuff. Was there some documentation I missed? Or is this more tribal knowledge?
If that's the case, I am happy to start a (sticky) DIY to help the next SOLO-DL/SmartyCam rookie
