Default what files to copy to drop box

What files do I need to copy onto dropbox and how can I copy the files directly to DB when transferring from the logger?

Are you doing it for backup or something else? What data system?

For AiM, you need the .drk and .gpk. If it's an MXL2, MXS, or MXG, you want the .xrk too.

I use a program to copy all of the files on my laptop to the dropbox account everyday, so any changes I make or added files are grabbed. You could do the backup very easily with a service like Carbonite without having to do anything other than have an internet connection.

Actually, I do something MUCH simpler, so I have instant access to all downloaded data files (AiM) across ALL computers, even at the track (with a data connection on all devices).

The nice thing is that even without an Internet connection, the data is downloaded to whatever computer you're using and then synced to the cloud automatically when there IS an Internet connection.

When you download from your device, you have the ability to direct where the files are saved. The default (already filled in in the dialog box for the downloader) is C:/AiM/RaceStudio2/DATA, or something like that.

Change that to a new folder (DATA) you create in your shared Dropbox folder on your computer. Then, whenever you download files, all the relevant information goes to that folder, shared automatically across your devices.

You may need, when you open RaceStudio Analysis, to Import those files into the database, but it should work fine after that.

Really easy, automatic and works with other systems like MoTeC and TraqMate if you create the same named default data folders in your shared Dropbox folder.

Enjoy!

as usual ,the advice here is very helpful ,thank you . i do have 2 comments . the first is that if the files have video ,like racekeeper , the download from DB back to the computer is prohibitively long , i wonder if there is a solution to this . the second is that the import function of AIM seems spotty . i think aim is great but importing to it does not always work
thanks

No, I don't send video and data coordinated files (VVBOX and R-K) to my DropBox, I have a terabyte of space in the cloud, but not on my computers!

I have not had a problem with the import function as long as the source directory is also on the computer.
