Default Is it okay to leave AiM solo DL obd2 always connected

After a couple of recent DE's, I've decided that HLT sucks, its just too unstable. I now have AiM solo DL (obd2) + SmartyCam HD rev. 2. I went with OBD2 for simplicity.

My question is this, is it okay to leave the unit connected to the OBD2 port? My concern would be power draw when connected to the ODB2 port. Since the AiM solo DL has its own power button, I'm guessing this should not be a problem, but I'm not sure.

With previous OBD2 adapters for use with HLT, I would see them "light up"/power on simply by plugging them into the ODB2 port on the car when the car was off (no key in ignition).

Yes. Power is always supplied to the OBD-II connected.

The Solo DL will "sleep" with no draw after a period of inactivity, but will "wake up" when you open the door.

Left alone, it'll shut off, together with the camera after a short time.

You can push and hold the Power button if you're nervous about it.

Set the camera to shut down after 5 minutes rather than the default 15, too.

I have a SoloDL that I use with an older (non-HD) SmartyCam in two different cars.

Car A has a usable OBDII connector, which powers the SoloDL. Having the SoloDL connected to the SC in this setup also keeps the SC powered nicely throughout a track weekend.

Car B has only a cigarette lighter/12V outlet, which powers the SoloDL just fine. But for some reason the SC does not seem to be getting recharged via its connection to the SoloDL in this arrangement. After one day, the battery in the SC runs down and must be recharged at home. I know the connection between SoloDL and SC is good, because the SC starts and stops as it should when the SoloDL is turned on and off. Is this normal behavior for an SC plugged in to a SoloDL that is plugged into a 12V outlet?
