Default School me on Race Studio

Bought a solo DL the other day (at the track, impulse purchase - Harry's was acting up and annoying me)

More accurate lap times are cool, but this thing is too expensive to just use as a lap timer. I want to use it to get better.

so I turned a lots of mid 1:40.5xx's during the day and one freak of nature 1:40.1 so I wanted to see how I did it.

Here I loaded up three charts with speed, and time/distance delta charts.

The two 1:40.5s I cleared made the time in an inconsistent way and just ended up with similar times, but I dont see anything magical about the 1:40.1 relative to the other two laps.

Can someone give me some basic pointers (or point me to a book or youtube on the subject)

Track is laguna, car is a stock 997.1 GT3

Choose the box for where it says "Per Lap Color." That will let you each set of lap measures as their own color. Post up a graph after you have the different sessions as different colors and then we'll be able to see more.

There looks like an alignment issue (GPS drift) in one of session 5, lap 2 start/finish.

You made a great choice with the DL.

Edit: Here is a good spot to start learning RS2 https://vimeo.com/106352090 Continue on through there for more videos and a thorough review of how the software works.

Check out http://www.trailbrake.net/featured-a...gust-22nd-2012 for how to compare the laps. It's a little easier doing just 2 laps, but 3 is the same method. You'll be able to see where you gained/lost time.

The purple lap (1:40.514) had some GPS drift. The quick after midnight way to fix it is go Modify > Snap ON/OFF. Then at the bottom of the graph, you'll see multiple distance scales. Take the one that corresponds to the purple graph and slide it left/right until the peaks and valleys of the speeds line up with the others and the time variance at the bottom starts to smooth out.

Watched them both! Need to hook up my CAN cable to get throttle and brake I think, that must be where the delta is looking at the charts (when snap is used to line them up)

Roger's part 2, with the split time report, is key in finding areas where YOU did better and can find speed...
